Really well put together performance tonight, didnt give NH a ton of room or chances to do a whole lot. Boija was solid, if he shows he can be a guy to pop in for a few games here and there down the stretch maybe he can give Ostman some rest to keep him fresh in the long run, could be huge.

I've noticed him a lot this year but haven't said anything up to now, but I've been really happy with how Brandon Chabrier has played this season. I think he's shown himself to be a valuable contributer and a good college player.

0 for 6? Seems pretty harsh to me. I cant see a bunch of gamers, which I think these guys are, accepting those kind of results. Over the next 8 games I can see at least 3 wins, maybe as many as 5.

One more W to get to the predicted 5 wins.

Love it. A valuable W.

Maybe that game will serve as a little Chuck repellent for a while.

(One can only hope...)

Sorry, fishy, I'm not hiding in the corner or anything. Remember, I predicted you guys for Top Four in HEA (and UNH for last place). So, I've probably undersold both programs to this point. Nothing but admiration for what Coach Barr brings to his programs, and sincerely hoping his corpulent second-in-command is sticking to Jenny Craig. ;-)

Coach Souza's boys did nothing tonight to convince any long-standing UNH fans that he's up to competing with Coach Barr any time soon, so the return games in Durham early next year will tell a tale on that front. Other than that, same ol' UNH ... getting waxed by UMaine, even with their back-up goalie in net. ADVANTAGE UMAINE.

Walsh is smiling down after that performance. Have to follow it up with a solid effort vs. UConn on Sunday though.

Home ice is the big advantage in these games...could very well be the reverse @ The Whitt...I hope not, especially after last years games ended....one thing I did notice was UNH played a more physical game then I've seen over the years... also time to notice that other NADEAU...#20...complete player at his game...200' player with a never say quit in his game....surprised with Boija in net, but came away glad he played. Hoping that Ostman is not injured in anyway.....minor or not....good win and now thinking UConn on Sunday

Like Coach Barr says, these guys have a 45 second high revving motor, something we haven’t seen in a long time. With about a minute left in the first Breazele blew the doors off 3 uhn Guys to gain the zone. I was thinking where has that been for the last 10 years.

Nothing more can be said that hasn’t already been said about NB line, except Wow. It’s so nice to have skill on the team that can hit the spots instead of the glass or the chest protector.

Onto UConn. UConn has pretty much owned Maine lately, like to see that trend go away. I actually have tickets to that one, can’t wait to hear the crowd and see some action in Alfond.

Maine has been fortunate to have some great brothers don the jersey over the years. However few have worn the jersey and played on the team at the same time. Ferraro's did come in together like Bradley and Josh, Capuano's were All-American but a forward and a "D" and Lundin's were a goalie and a "D". Watching Bradley and Josh last night was an incredible treat. Imagine if Paul played with Steve? Or Steve played with Marty? While neither one of these guys is Paul, their ability to play together and know where each other is on the ice is special!

Josh's hat trick last night was a combination of the 3 of the prettiest and slickest goals you will ever see in one night. The important PPG at the end of the 1st off a set play, and Josh had option really of cross crease pass or shoot and saw the far post net and nailed it. The second goal on the feed from a driving Bradley as he drew everyone to him and once again Josh didn't miss. Enjoyed Mike Tuell's commentary of "everyone and his brother thought Bradley was going to shoot it" actually Mike his brother knew he was likely going to pass it and was in the spot to receive the pass. The Hat Trick goal, well those are some sick mitts! To come down the right wing and throw that backhanded to the far post! Made it look so easy.

It must be so much fun to the guys who have stuck it out since Ben took over, only a few left but Lyndon, Ben, Donovan and Victor are witnessing what Maine hockey was all about from the late 80's thru the first decade of 2000's. Been a long time, and it is still early, but this team continues to improve and Maine Hockey is once again relevant!

What a fun game last night, the old girl was shaking. Too see students not getting in and heading back in the opposite direction looking disappointed! ! Unreal.
The fan base sure changed fast. Some never thought this program would ever see such again, must admit it crossed my mind many times. Good to see theres still a huge well of fans in the community. No doubt the rest of the season will be sold out. Four years ago did anyone think this was possible?.

Well, the UNH series story is to be told. Going to the Whit is a tough place. I thought after the first period unh had an edge due to their better physical play, which can take its toll as the game goes on, but Maine came out tough in the 2nd and never let up. Unh has speed, talent and some tough guys, was surprised how well maine D disrupted their play and forwards sustained good forechecking.

The 2,3,4 lines are good grinders and disruptors. Houle is a great example, nothing smooth there, but pure hustle and work to create opportunities. Scott is a very similar player only smoother. Fun to watch.

Oh, cant leave out a nod to Boija, having the 2nd goalie will be huge.

The Nad's sure are fun to watch, arent they? Such creativity. Makes you wonder the way Josh has been playing lately why his brother Brad was the higher touted of the two. Makes no difference though, those two are simply locked in to each other on the ice. Its all good as long as one of them keeps finding the back of the net. Coupla observations...strange seeing UNH trying to be so physical...usually unlike them. And methinks MS6 (dropped down a notch) made a mistake playing the goalie he did. I thought the other dude there Museliek (?) kinda had Maine's number and played pretty well against them. BWTFDIK ?

Great game and atmosphere. My seats are in club right behind the goalie and I noticed after the game Barr made a comment about the handshake line and Souza gave him this weird look and walked off. Not sure what that was about but Souza looked like a dick whatever he did. The place was LOUD. As others said, it was obvious UNH was trying to be very physical without going over the line. I wouldn't say gooning it up, but will be really interesting to see what happens at the Whitt. I thought Maine was pressing the first period and a little tentative because for a lot of these guys this is the first game they have played in this rivalry. Second period Barr said something to them in the locker room because Maine looked light years better than UNH. Third as well. Great game!

I have on good source Ostman is injured and did it this week but it is not long term..not sure about Sunday's game.

How about a little dono pot to keep Coach Barr in Orono for a few decades? In all seriousness, watching them is a breath of fresh air. Atmosphere was as-expected, and after the first 19 minutes of the first, I thought the boys really settled in and flexed their muscles on a team they are better than.

I was also incredibly pleased at how they handled the physicality of UNH. The after the whistles bumps and shoves and the boys didn’t even engage - THAT was telling. In past years, that’s the exact type of game that would rattle Maine and force them to play the body and lose focus of the task at hand - paging Mr Greenway?

Barr clearly runs a tight ship, has high expectations and I love it. Excited for Sunday!

This. Probably not 5-2 better but definitely better.

As I said earlier this year an extension for Barr should be done asap..price goes up the better they get and it's obvious the fans are back and putting money into the university by coming to the games. Totally agree Blackbear96

Freel deserves a lot of credit for his recent play as well. Four game point streak averaging 4.5 SOG per game and has looked really comfortable on that top-PP unit. Think he also laid like 4 or 5 solid hits in the first period last night, guy was a menace all night. Honestly that Freel-Scott-Houle line has been very strong at 5x5.

Boija really didn't get tested a lot, but looked good when called upon. Really big spot in a ranked rivalry game to get your first college win!

Hopefully Ostman isn't out long but nice that Boija can step in because I think a lot of us share the same concern of an Ostman injury derailing what looks to be a season with potential tournament aspirations.

Great game. Only negatives for me was sometimes the defenseman got caught gliding instead of skating hard after the puck when UNH dumped it in. This gave UNH several scoring chances due to the D mens lack of hustle. Also, Josh occasionally forced passes that were picked off easily.
Nitpicking here, I know…..lol. I envision how those negatives would play out in late March/April against the best teams…

You know, I dont mind those 'risky' passes once in awhile. These two are pretty good at catching the D napping, and sometimes those passes get through for scores. Might get a bunch picked off, might get a few of those in the twine.

I noticed this too.
Barr is a class act, him and the other coaches always take the time to go through the handshake line, win or lose.
The opposing team players always seem to treat that with respect.
