UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Terrible reffing tonight, but it's not costing us the game.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Sucks we had to dig such a big hole in the 3rd tonight. Your a fool if you think the Gophers are out of the race for the cup.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Nice game by St. Cloud tonight. A much better defensive effort compared to last night, and the 2nd period belonged to them, which proved to be the critical period IMO.

Last night Wilcox won the goaltending duel, tonight it was Faragher. That 3rd SCSU goal really hurt MN's chances. Forced them to open up even more, and you see Gravel and LeBlanc take advantage.

MN will need to play lights out the rest of the year and hope for some help if they are going to have any chance at the MacNaughton. More than that, they aren't going to be able to afford any slip up if they want to hold onto the #2 conference spot and earn a bye in the WCHA Final Five.

This.

And the reffing still sucked so hard tonight. HORRIBLE. Inconsistent, no calls/wrong calls, absolute horsesh*. Both sides, btw.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Splits what I expected, so oh well. Nice to see them not fold up the tent going down by three.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Man the Gophers are good.

Huskies played really well tonight.

The refs were terrible.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Papa Shep is going to have a nice sit down with these two Area Clowns. No excuse for how poor they were this weekend.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Not much to say about that one that hasn't been said already. Nice almost comeback. A couple of disappointing defensive plays. SCSU played them REALLY tight and limited quality scoring chances. Faragher was the difference in this one. Good game.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Was really hoping they'd get at least a 3rd point, but credit to SCSU for playing well and earing the W.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Very proud of this SCSU squad. Was very worried going into this game, given how impressive Minnesota was last night, but this was a huge win.

I feel exactly the same way. Very happy to see the Gophers not give up late in the game. That effort comes in handy in the post-season.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Sucks to lose like that, but credit the Gophers for coming back. Unfortunately they did not stem the tide fast enough (alluding to my earlier post), and SCSU capitalized on the chances they had. Wilcox was shaky, but he's a freshman, and will have the occasional off night. Faragher regained his form. If Minnesota sweeps Wisconsin next weekend, the battle for the MacNaughton is far from over. Even 3 points would keep them in striking distance...

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

These two games remind how glad I am that MN will be able to keep SCSU (more-or-less) on its schedule.
Always exciting games with a lot of intensity and really fast hockey to watch.

Both teams have a fairly easy remaining schedule (on paper, anyway).
