What a surprise. Phantom penalty results in a Gopher goal.
Nice game by St. Cloud tonight. A much better defensive effort compared to last night, and the 2nd period belonged to them, which proved to be the critical period IMO.
Last night Wilcox won the goaltending duel, tonight it was Faragher. That 3rd SCSU goal really hurt MN's chances. Forced them to open up even more, and you see Gravel and LeBlanc take advantage.
MN will need to play lights out the rest of the year and hope for some help if they are going to have any chance at the MacNaughton. More than that, they aren't going to be able to afford any slip up if they want to hold onto the #2 conference spot and earn a bye in the WCHA Final Five.
this.
And the reffing still sucked so hard tonight. Horrible. Inconsistent, no calls/wrong calls, absolute horsesh*. Both sides, btw.
I feel exactly the same way. Very happy to see the Gophers not give up late in the game. That effort comes in handy in the post-season.Was really hoping they'd get at least a 3rd point, but credit to SCSU for playing well and earing the W.
Nope. I took care of the remainders. Some kittens have been spared.
Sucks to lose like that, but credit the Gophers for coming back. Unfortunately they did not stem the tide fast enough (alluding to my earlier post), and SCSU capitalized on the chances they had. Wilcox was shaky, but he's a freshman, and will have the occasional off night. Faragher regained his form. If Minnesota sweeps Wisconsin next weekend, the battle for the MacNaughton is far from over. Even 3 points would keep them in striking distance...
