To be honest, at this point I'm more concerned with staying ahead of UND. If SCSU goes 5-1 to end the year (very attainable for them), MN will have to go 7-0-1 to win the conference. That's asking a lot.
MN is certainly capable of winning out, but we all know college hockey can be pretty unpredictable. I always expect Bemidji and Duluth to play a bit above their caliber in games against the Gophers. And with the series being in Bemidji, as the last home games of the year for the Beavers, that's not going to be an easy series. Throw in DU and a much improved UW and it's going to be tough.
Next weekend could do a lot to convince me to stop checking the rearview mirror. If MN can take 3 pts from the Badgers and DU can earn a split with UND I think the Gophers will be in good shape to stay in the top-2.
CORRECTION - If SCSU goes 5-1 and MN 7-0-1 that would only tie the teams. MN would have to go 8-0 to win outright.
DOUBLE CORRECTION - The DU/UND series is in 2 weeks. So I'll have a little while to wait to shake this angst.
