UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Games like tonight will take years off my life. The carpet wouldn't have had enough jäger to settle things if The Gophers came all the way to tie it.

I said it last night, but it bears repeating. That's the best opposing team I've see SCSU play all year. By far. The race is on.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Sucks to lose like that, but credit the Gophers for coming back. Unfortunately they did not stem the tide fast enough (alluding to my earlier post), and SCSU capitalized on the chances they had. Wilcox was shaky, but he's a freshman, and will have the occasional off night. Faragher regained his form. If Minnesota sweeps Wisconsin next weekend, the battle for the MacNaughton is far from over. Even 3 points would keep them in striking distance...

To be honest, at this point I'm more concerned with staying ahead of UND. If SCSU goes 5-1 to end the year (very attainable for them), MN will have to go 7-0-1 to win the conference. That's asking a lot.
MN is certainly capable of winning out, but we all know college hockey can be pretty unpredictable. I always expect Bemidji and Duluth to play a bit above their caliber in games against the Gophers. And with the series being in Bemidji, as the last home games of the year for the Beavers, that's not going to be an easy series. Throw in DU and a much improved UW and it's going to be tough.

Next weekend could do a lot to convince me to stop checking the rearview mirror. If MN can take 3 pts from the Badgers and DU can earn a split with UND I think the Gophers will be in good shape to stay in the top-2.

CORRECTION - If SCSU goes 5-1 and MN 7-0-1 that would only tie the teams. MN would have to go 8-0 to win outright.
DOUBLE CORRECTION - The DU/UND series is in 2 weeks. So I'll have a little while to wait to shake this angst.

Took a big effort, but way to come away with it... the hard way. :)

Let's Go BADGERS!

I think UW is gonna be a tough beat at home. They aren't as bad as they looked in the first half. Both teams should be happy if they get 3 or more there.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

I think that's the one that sparked it. I read some of the exchange, guy was a jack***. And no it wasn't DL

I admit, at first, I was "WTeFF?" But on replay, easy call. The SECOND disallowed one, though.........well, that was a better job reffing than most of tonight. ;)

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

I still haven't watched a replay of those, other than at the rink, so I can't comment yet. But tonight was just bad. I tried to keep track of bad/blown calls each way, but I lost track.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

I am interested to see how the outdoor game is evaluated going into next weekend. I may have to wait for the new forum....but from what I saw this weekend, non perfect ice conditions could appear more problematic for gophers style of play.
