As opposed to St. Cloud State, who you just never hear about come post season time, period.

Excuse me, everything HE had heard was that it would be at the Mooch. Everything I have heard is that it will be at the X.

I'm sorry but if it is at Mariucci, that changes EVERYTHING. I don't even know what the point of going would be. 3 other fan bases (ideally four, but why go to Mariucci for this tournament if your team is out?) have to fight for the tickets that season ticket holders don't have, and then also fight with the Gophers fans who just want that weekend? F that.

I was saying, like you, everything I have heard is that it will be at the X. I don't know, or care, where Roman gets his info because 75% of the time he is wrong.

And I agree, pretty stupid if it's at the Mooch. If it is, hopefully it's just for one year. Completely defeats the purpose of the event.

I'm hoping Roman put Mariucci but meaning a venue in the cities (the X hopefully). If it's at Mariucci it's going to be a huge disappointment. Maybe not as much of a disappointment as that Minnesota Showcase thing a few years back but still a huge disappointment.

I thought we have only played in 8 NCAA tourneys...? I am in for the long haul. We will get there.

You're right. Must be because they didn't bleach their hair together like the Gophers. If only Craig Dahl had known this secret recipe for success.

Obviously none of us know, but would this event be part of the season ticket package? If not I wouldn't see that changing even if the venue were changed to Mariucci.

btw - hockeykrazy is just one Roto Rooter reference away from being a Skeeterman clone. :D

I'm assuming you're measuring degree of instigation by volume of attempts as opposed to effectiveness? I get the sense that most of it is resulting in the internet equivalent of uncomfortable silence.

I asked Roman about the 4 team Minnesota Tourney in 2014 and asked him to clarify if Mariucci was indeed the venue for 2014 as he stated in the Strib article. I told him I had heard it was at the X. Just received this email tonight from Roman:

You are right, I am wrong. Don Lucia talked about hosting two tournaments and I jumped to the wrong conclusion. It will be at the X, unless there is some kind of conflict. Which I am sure they worked out well in advance.

SC Times Mick Hatten had this in his article yesterday, page 2...

St. Cloud State and Minnesota will be two of the four teams that will play in the initial nonconference tournament with the Division I programs in the state beginning next season. Details are being finalized, but plans are to have the tournament annually the last weekend of January at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

That will be the lone regular season opportunity for the two teams to meet next season. But in the 2014-15 and 2016-17 seasons, the teams will play two games each season with each team having one home game. In 2015-16, there will be a two-game series played at Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis.
