UAA vs Denver Goin on a road trip

Re: UAA vs Denver Goin on a road trip

Gwoz was just trying to make sure his players stayed on the bench.

In the radio interview he said he said he went on the ice to keep his players from joining the fracas "over his dead body".

Shyiak should have done more to keep his three extra guys from jumping the boards and lookking for trouble.

UAA played very well this weekend, and it was disappointing seeing them end the game that way.

I love Clark, BTW. Wish we had his energy and spirit.

Ruegs matches and exceeds Clark's energy and spirit without doing cheap shots like spearing an opposing player in the groin (Friday game). Ruegs is playing like a man possessed and is displaying the leadership and passion that this team needs to get to Detroit.

UAA is a team with nothing to lose and they showed it at the end of the game. DU is playing for the MacNaughton and they showed it at the end of the game as well. They did not want any suspensions for the upcoming huge series against Wisconsin. Hopefully we won't have any.

Besides the ending tonight, the series was extremely boring and UAA deserves a ton of credit for that. They played extremely well and shut down DU for most of the weekend.

DU guys were no angels. You can't fight by yourself. It really does take two. I thought the Pioneers got really chippy in the third period.

UAA may be the biggest and most physical team DU has played this year. Very, very tough, hardworking team that plays very well against the Pios.

I've probably seen 3-4 UAA/DU games on tv over the past couple years, and all of them seem to be dogfights until the end. Fun to watch, for sure.

Edit: and the turtling bit is right on. They showed a UAA player just pummeling a turtled DU player before they cut away from the "action."

Two losses by one goal, a tie and a 7-3 win. If UAA played all of their opponents that way, they would be in the upper half of the standings.

Yeah, I dunno what it is with Denver, but UAA is the most competitive for those games.

Probably top 3.

All UAA needs is a few high-end skill guys and they'd be a top tier program. At least if they play other teams like they play Denver.

Maybe a few. There were a couple times tonight where Chevy made a save and didn't even realize he stopped the puck. One of those shots makes it, that's a whole 'nother game. And most teams in the WCHA don't have Chevy in their net.

I agree. Both teams had some good chances tonight. I thought Olthuis played very well, too.

Re: UAA vs Denver Goin on a road trip

first of all, Dustin and I would like to thank Chevron, UAA atheltics & Blueliners, Denver Grand Hyatt, DU athletic department & Fans, for there hospitality and generousity, for the guys who have been dubbed # 1 UAA hockey fans (that's what they say). We had a great time, and hopefully we will make it to other road trips besides Squarebanks. Sorry i did not get to meet any of you posters i might have if you were watching the football game and were talking to a cowboys fan (me).

My thoughts on tonights game, UAA should not put there heads down, We fought til the very end. Jonny Olthuis played exceptionally well (with the exception of the 2nd goal) and that lil skirmish at the end of the game is unacceptable. See all you UAA fans in 2 weeks.

Were you the guy with the green full head makeup?

Those few minutes before DU's second goal, Olthius was playing out of his friggin' mind.

It's the best Jonnie O has played since his freshman year, when he was fighting Lawson for ice time. He needs to stop trying to play the puck though, he just is not a good puck handler.

Bryce didn't make the trip, so it will be Jonnie O against Tech as well.

You could put Johnny O out there, with one other skater, and at least split with Tech. I never thought Tech could even attempt to be this bad, but yet here they are.
