UAA vs Denver Goin on a road trip

Re: UAA vs Denver Goin on a road trip

Any news or update on the DU v. UAA game?

Denver 3-2 final. GWG with 39 seconds left.

UAA decides to get rough with DU after the final whistle. UAA players leave the bench to join, Gwoz motions his players to stay put on the bench, and yells at his players on the ice to get back to the bench.

And Clark (UAA) is a piece of *. Diving, cheap shots, and not surprisingly, in the middle of the scrum.

I heard from a goofer fan that green jerseys induce diving, cheap shots, and rough play :D . Thank you for the update.

RED jerseys induce diving. Green is cheap shots. Get it right. :p

Honestly, I don't give two craps about DU or UAA (don't hate 'em, don't love 'em) but from what I saw of UAA and Clark tonight (as well as Shyiak's inactions post-game).....horrible.

I am not at all happy about the crap that went on after the whistle. I didn't see what started it, but I think it was between Wrenn and Clark. Tuton was involved as well, and as a captain that is not acceptable.

UAA plays Tech this next weekend, and if they play like they did against DU they should easily sweep. Now they will probably have guys suspended, on a team that is already short due to injuries. Not smart.

That winning goal was a thing of beauty, but UAA could have easily won. Chevy had the luck of the puck bouncing off one post then the other, missing by an inch on both sides. Something to build on, that's for sure. I have not seen this team play with that much heart in a long time. Great to see. Play that way at home, and they'll win back some fans.

After seeing Clark's play this game and his post-game antics, I wasn't really surprised about him. Shyiak on the other hand, not doing anything? That really bothers me. No yelling at his players to knock it off, etc, like Gwoz did?

And I agree about UAA/Tech. Although, having seen Tech play a few times this year, UAA should sweep them if they are missing their 3 best players.

Jay said on the DU audiocast that Clark slashed Wiercioch to start the whole thing. Don't know if that is what precipitated it but Clark was doing his best Sean Avery act tonight.

Gwoz on the post-game said he wanted Shyiak to keep his guys on the bench and said none of the DU players on the bench would get on the ice unless it was over his dead body. He said he could understand Shyiak's reluctance to get on the ice as coach's have gotten injured doing such things. He definitely did not want to do the handshake line as it potentailly could escalate into what happened last year between UND and MN? or WI?. (I can't remember which team he mentioned)

Suze, everytime UAA comes to Magness--biting nails, forgetting to breathe or consuming excessive quantity of wine. If the Seawolves played that way every game.....

But I still don't like Kevin Clark. He and Hextall $#@&^%$#

Re: UAA vs Denver Goin on a road trip

Good WCHA hockey game tonight.

UAA played an excellent defensive hockey once again, and made it very hard for the Pios, but at the end of the game, DU's high-skill seniors came up big to get the victory with under a minute left. Heroics belonged to Rakhsahni, whose great between-the-legs pass to Ruegsegger, who roofed it over Olthuis for the win.

Very impressed with UAA defensively this weekend. Big, tough and well-coached defensively, with great stick checks and a good trapping defense. They really match up well with DU, who has more offensive skill but much less physical presence.

That end of the game stuff by UAA cheapened their great effort this weekend. No reason for three UAA guys to come off the bench to start stuff, and I would have like to see Shiyak try a little harder to stop that unneeded stuff from his team. UAA played too well for the series to end that way.

If Clark were on the other team, I'd hate him too. He is actually my favorite player because he plays with such a big heart. He gets mugged a lot, and I know it's because of his mouth, he gets under the opponents skin. I don't know what started the brawl and I don't really care. It shouldn't have happened. I wasn't happy with Gwoz going out on the ice, and I wasn't happy with Shyiak just standing there doing nothing.

From what I saw on tv, Gwoz was yelling at his players to get off the ice, and for those on the bench to stay on the bench. I liked that part of it.

Gwoz was just trying to make sure his players stayed on the bench.

In the radio interview he said he said he went on the ice to keep his players from joining the fracas "over his dead body".

Shyiak should have done more to keep his three extra guys from jumping the boards and lookking for trouble.

UAA played very well this weekend, and it was disappointing seeing them end the game that way.

I love Clark, BTW. Wish we had his energy and spirit.

He didn't seem to happy with Shiyak either. Methinks there will be some punishments handed down from McLeod next week. Probably a few Seawolves won't be playing next week and maybe a Pioneer or 2. I did not see any DU players throwing punches, though, so we'll have to see.

I wouldn't be.

And from what I saw, maybe 1 DU guy, and 2 UAA guys. Didn't see a replay to get the full spectrum of players involved (as to who it was, etc, besides Clark) but if it's on youtube later, a link would be appreciated.

Both teams were throwing punches. I'm sure both will get suspensions.

Wrenn and Wiercioch (sp) were involved for DU. Does anyone have it on TIVO?

Re: UAA vs Denver Goin on a road trip

Great third period tonight and a much better overall effort by DU. The first line scored all three goals and R and R were just amazing in the final minutes. AA played better tonight as well and really hung tight. In addition to the things PS mentioned about their D, I'd add blocked shots. Man! They blocked a ton of rubber tonight.

I was not impressed by the AA coach or Clark and Gotham at the end of the game. Gwoz had the common sense to send his boys off the ice to by-pass the handshake which would've been a pig pile for sure. I hope were done with AA because they wore me out and I was in the stands. Both teams have to be spent after that battle.

BTW, two funny highlights were when Clark got dumped on his butt in front of the DU bench got up and got dumped again in the first. That and when Tyler went off on him at the face off circle waving his stick in his face and motioning to him that he was a lunatic. He actually was getting off on the crap at the end of the game--had a big smile on his face going into the locker room. I respect AA for the effort they put forward over the weekend but the crap at the end was tasteless. Hold your up and take the loss like a man and shake hands with your opponent.
