TV 20 - Sorry no fancy title

I’d say that she’s far better off singing what she wants and pizzing off the squares than singing the four billionth version of “I Got Rhythm”.

I remember when people made the same argument about Gaga (because she started out as a piano crooner and made no traction) and she blew up and did it later anyways when she was the biggest deal in the world.

She can make her bones now and do duets with Buble in 5-10 years.

Bad example, because Gaga's music had power (because great artists steal and Madonna's had power).

The problem is not that it's contemporary, it's that it's programmed. Roan's songs sound like they were written by an AI told to find the local maximum of a revenue function. There's great new original music out there, but hers is just awful.

My comparison is with Ronstadt. They trapped her with goo for years, where her voice was outstanding and finally shown when she sang actual music. If Roan can get Finneas Eilish to write songs for her she'll be great. Until then, she should sing great songs made for wonderful female voices. Or she should join Muse. She has the power for it and it would be kickas-s to hear her sing Plug-in Baby, and she could still do all the campy Lee press-on nail crap.

You do realize she writes her own music right?

I am not comparing the two...I couldn't name a Roan song nor do I care. The point is that a lot of the pop stars with great voices have people saying they should ditch the cruddy pop stuff and go more crooner style. Problem is in the modern music setup you need to make a splash...you cant just be Mariah Carey covering The Jackson 5 and explode. You need the pop hits first to get a following then you evolve.

I'm fairly picky but I like what I like and I had never seen her before and I really liked the songs. Rare for me on an SNL performance. Last time I can think of that happening to me was Jessie J. I am sure it's happened since then but I do not remember when.

If you mean Roan, then she shouldn't.

Just cuz you can sing doesn't mean you can write.

Oh, and I think you may have misunderstood me too, since it's not country I am objecting to.

Let's do the songs that come up from her on YouTube.

Hot to Go. Catchy. F-ckability does not hurt. Could easily be Lene Lovich. A
Red Wine Supernova. VERY catchy. Great lyrics. Terrifyingly like my sister-in-law. A
Good Luck, Babe. Is this Style Council? I'm starting to feel funny. A

OK, sh-t, as of now I'm going to have to eat it.

Pink Pony Girl. Ripoff of all country crossover. Lame song but lovely voice. C
My Kink is Karma. Boring music but solid lyrics. Blah but no worse than this period's best. C
Naked in Manhattan. Back to the 80s! A song done 100x but I like it. Chorus sucks. C

OK, I repent. She writes some good songs, and what she writes that is meh she pulls off because oh my god that is free, pansexual energy.

Verdict: I'll allow it.

I saw Linda Ronstadt on Broadway in Pirates of the Penzance. Way back in the day.

I know the MCU doesn't get much traction around here, but AGATHA ALL ALONG is some of the best TV Marvel has done so far. Solid "A".

Very compelling storytelling. Each episode tells it's own story while there is the overall arc that offers some very well deserved twists and turns. Kathryn Hahn and Joe Locke work excellent as the leads, but the entire show is cast very well. You care about each character you come across and they all are given their chance to shine. Well worth checking out, even if Spooky Season is over =)
