TV 20 - Sorry no fancy title

Just started S1 of Silo. It's not without flaws, but it's been quite good so far.

I will give S2 of The Diplomat a try even though I've had a love/hate relationship with such things the past few years.

Silo takes itself seriously which is a problem.

Diplomat doesn't, which is its charm.

I agree to a point, however I don't think that every show can pull off being irreverent. If they land S1 I could see being too serious becoming an issue in S2 which hurt series like Westworld and Broachurch for example.

I'll agree with that. The 5000 recent shows that are meta and sardonic are so repetitive and unoriginal they seem like an adolescent telling the same joke again and again looking for a laugh. I think the reason Diplomat works is it seems so ardent while being utterly sarcastic trash. It doesn't put up flashing arrows like Veep. The horror of it just naturally comes out of the situations and the fact that everybody behaves as if this is totally normal.

I've just started Lupen. I’ve been watching everything on my Vizio TV, and it’s been a smooth experience. If anyone has questions about their Vizio products, you can always contact their support through the vizio customer service number.

S3 of Somebody, Somewhere has been absolutely hitting it out of the park so far. It's so poignant and understated, while at the same time visceral and powerful. I have no idea if the series has received any accolades, but the writers at the very least deserve recognition. It's sort of an anti-The Bear which is not a knock on another favorite of mine.

Love this show. Glad to hear someone else is watching

2/3rds of the way through season 2 of Arcane, the middle arc had much better pacing than the first three episodes, but still plenty left unanswered for the final 3 episodes dropping this coming weekend. I'm sure if you're familiar with the game there are easter eggs sprinkled in there, but if you're like me and don't know anything about the lore going in, it's still a helluva roller coaster ride. It hits you over the head at times (with suitable musical accompaniment) but leans into its earnestness. And my god, the artistry of the animation puts even the multiverse spiderman movies to shame.

I really, really hope they stick the landing, because if they do we're talking a potential GOAT not just among anime but Netflix generally.

Watched it since the beginning. Usually right when it drops. Really love it.

Started watching the reboot of Perry Mason from a few years back, starring Matthew Rhys. So far, I'm liking it. Has that LA in the '30's vibe similar to the final season of Penny Dreadful, if even darker and grittier. Also that LA Confidential thing going on.

Perry's a sleazeball, making a living selling pictures of celebs in compromising positions to the tabloids.

More episodes in, and it is a bit derivative of Penny Dreadful: City of Angels. Mostly in regards to the religious organization led by a sickly spiritualist and her domineering mother.

I loved the idea of that show but could never get into it. It just wasn't well written. They seemed to always take the easy, derivative way and never try for anything novel or special. A real blown opportunity. Even the Sabrina reboot had more dignity, and if CW is beating you on artistic merit you're not in a good place.
