TV 20 - Sorry no fancy title

Started watching the reboot of Perry Mason from a few years back, starring Matthew Rhys. So far, I'm liking it. Has that LA in the '30's vibe similar to the final season of Penny Dreadful, if even darker and grittier. Also that LA Confidential thing going on.

Perry's a sleazeball, making a living selling pictures of celebs in compromising positions to the tabloids.

It's wonderful. Enjoy every minute because they killed it. Smart show; dumb audience.

I loved the idea of that show but could never get into it. It just wasn't well written. They seemed to always take the easy, derivative way and never try for anything novel or special. A real blown opportunity. Even the Sabrina reboot had more dignity, and if CW is beating you on artistic merit you're not in a good place.

Yeah, but it had Natalie Dormer playing four different roles. And at least two of them were smoking hawt.

She is not unattractive.

Dune Prophecy a show based on a book in the expanded Dune Universe has been well done so far. Enjoying the show and the podcast. It is set 10,000 years before the first Dune Novel.

With a main character who strongly resembles Jason Momoa's Duncan Idaho from the films.

Just a coincidence, I'm sure.

Are there any "spoilers" or is there any reason to read additional books prior to watching this if I have finished Messiah? I still want to get through the remaining main sequence books, just want to make sure there's nothing I need or would gain from this series beyond being in the same universe.

No spoilers for any of the Frank Herbert Dune Novels. Some spoilers for the expanded universe novel called Sisterhood of Dune.

Just finished episode 4 of Penguin. THIS is excellent writing. Like The Wire or Sopranos level writing. I hope Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti Emmys.

I assume you’re talking about Travis Fimmel. I’m happy to see him. Still mad about Raised by Wolves’ cancellation and erasure. I’ll always like his Ragnar in Vikings as well. :)

There’s a series now on Hulu about the 2005 tsunami. I’m finding it really interesting as there’s a lot of personal footage I’d never seen

I was living and working in Europe at that time and a bunch of my Swedish colleagues were in Thailand for Xmas. I remember being terrified at first . Years later we went to Phuket and stayed in a hotel that was brand new because the previous structure was destroyed

Technically it was 2004. We were on Phuket when it hit but luckily we were on the eastern side of the island which saw no impact.

We are nearly through S1 of Special Ops: Lioness. It's a decent series but there's been a few plot holes that annoy the crap out of me, especially because they're so obvious and therefore avoidable with a bit of re-writing.

Pulling from streaming should immediately revoke all copyrights to the material.

if you're not going to make it available, no protections. Same with tax write offs. If you write something off, you must make it public domain and make the materials available. Otherwise no benefit. Fuck these assholes.

RBW was fantastic.
