TV 19 - Simpsons Did It

So my wife started watching Chicago Fire on Peacock to kill time. I've watched a few episodes and it's good for what it is.

What irks me most when watching, and maybe its a touch of the 'tism, but the disparity of the call out on-scene locations sometimes egregiously not matching their filming location gives me an aneurysm.

"600 North Dearborn" - Oh good they're in the financial district.... wait, that's the abandoned area under I-55 at Ashland.

"1200 18th St" - Oh, they're gonna be in the Pilen neighborhood... why are they back under I-55 at Ashland?

"5700 Woodlawn" - Oooh Hyde Park near the Museum of Science and Industry... WHY THE **** ARE THEY COMPLETELY THE WRONG DIRECTION NEAR THE EDENS EXPRESSWAY???

Is it this bad when people in other metros watch shows based in areas they live/work closely?

The Chicago series are all good for what they are. Among network dreck, they float to the top. They won't win awards, they aren't going to make you question your existence, but they're better than that 911 garbage and virtually all cop dramas.

I could go for days about Mystery Alaska. Like, the first question is how does that place exist and it only goes from there.

But Stevie Weeks skates the river! And lest we forget The Judge played NCAA Hockey! (though that isn't The Saturday Game)

How does a place that supposedly small have a judge? A District Judge at that, because he clearly hears a civil case with a jury, something a Magistrate can’t do!

(/s for anyone thinking I’m being super serious. I mean, I am being serious just sarcastically.)

And why would a major grocery store company want to go there?

I trust everyone involved with the Mr. and Mrs. Smith series, so I'll give it a chance beyond the pilot, which I did not like.

My wife, who spent years in Toronto, chuckles for similar reasons. She recognizes a lot of the neighborhoods that are supposedly in NYC.

In the 90s it was hilarious that whether you were in the Middle East or Vietnam or the Sudan or Florida, all the trees were evergreens just outside Nanaimo.

X-Files especially, until they started shooting in LA and then everything looked like crap.

Yeah and should we all list a bunch of shows by geniuses that ended up sucking? Everyone can get lucky once.

jfc Handy you make Kep look optimistic.

Ep 1 of Mr. and Mrs. was not great especially a huge plot hole imho, but Ep 2 was better. Haven't gone onto 3 yet. It's very dry and thankfully nothing like the dreck of a movie.

Or...and see if you can keep up Francis...I was just making a point that it's ok to think good people sometimes make things of lesser quality. Not everything by everyone is a home run.
