There was hints at a Presidential run too IIRC...

Now I fully admit, the last time I watched WWE it was still WWF and I found it boring and stupid (and nothing I have seen since then has changed my mind) so my hatred of the McMahon's goes back decades. The only thing that sucks is he made billions while he systematically destroyed half the wrestling fandom and made people's lives a living hell.
 
True Detective season 4 episode 3…uhm…so is this going to end up being The Thing re-written for 2024? Cause if that’s how it ends it will take shark jumping into the stratosphere.
 
TIL that Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt were playing Ted Lasso and Coach Beard, respectively, in a pair of shorts back in 2013 and 2014. The Ted Lasso series premiered in 2020. It’s amazing how long it can take something to really develop in Hollywood.

IIRC they created the characters while working together in Chicago even before that.
 
Death and Other Details with Mandy Patinkin. I really wanted to like this series because of course Mandy. And despite the set and costume designs being gorgeous – including making it look like 1930’s Hollywood set in modern times - the characters are not very appealing, episode 2 was convoluted, and it feels like a poor man’s Agatha Christie without any charm or thoughtfulness. Sadly I won’t continue onto episode 3.

I thought that was pretty common knowledge, but then again they were just a couple commercials for PL on NBC, so it wasn’t a very broad marketing campaign. I think they reused just about every joke from those in the first season, and most packed into the first two episodes.

I don’t usually research shows on TV like that, but my wife and I were watching Parks & Rec, and she called out one of the random guys in the public meeting scene was Coach Beard. He looked a lot different to me, so the search began, and I happened across that bit of Ted Lasso trivia.

To be fair, I didn’t even realize Beard was in the originals until I went back after I started watching the series. I also remember when I heard they were making the show and thought it was going to be terrible because how much can you really drag out this Who’s On First routine of football/futbol.

AFAIK, Brendan Hunt is the main writer, although they co-created the characters. Sudekis is excellent, but I got the impression he is the star appeal and Hunt is the actual worker.

Not going to lie, I thought it was going to be a traditional talk show too. But because I’m not a complete moron, I thought “I was wrong.” instead of concocting a crazy theory.
 
We finished Ted Lasso tonight.

It's a perfect, complete show. It wasn't pushing artistic boundaries but goddamn was it good.

They could have written a fourth season where they won the premier league, but why? No, they went for the perfect landing and stuck it.

I'm going to miss these characters. Every one of them.
 
I’m glad the second half of season three rebounded because the first half was brutal. Expanded episode length and they used the extra time almost exclusively for a plot line they ended midway thru the season and then it didn’t even have any real repercussions for the story. Things were basically reset to how season 2 ended.
