Or...and see if you can keep up Francis...I was just making a point that it's ok to think good people sometimes make things of lesser quality. Not everything by everyone is a home run.

Conversely it's ok to note that just because not everything hits doesn't mean this one won't. No one made any guarantees.

If I read right he goes off about how Trump and Biden are old...if that is true I might skip it.

I’m about to watch it…but this is from NY times pitchbot :

“A Trump victory in November would end American democracy. Here’s why I’m going to spend the next nine months making lame jokes about Biden’s age.

by Jon Stewart”

I saw a clip he posted...to me it seems he is going down the Bill Maher road of becoming that which he used to mock 20 years ago. He looks and sounds old and out of touch when I see him interviewed as well.

If this is what is to be expected then here is hoping his influence on the show only extends to Mondays because if I wanted to watch CNN I can watch that any time I choose. TDS used to call the MSM to task not parrot the narrative and double down on it in some weird atrempt to seem legit. Satire only works if you aren't legitimately doing what you are satirizing. Then making arguments no one is making the crux of your editorial is just amateurish and hacky. I expect that from local sports talk not Jon Stewart.

No one is saying Biden is above reproach Jon...but if the big take down is he is old then you have nothing. And you can pretend all you want that we need Conan the Barbarian at the gate to protect us but we don't. This isn't a movie is real life and we need someone who will stand up to the bully not flex and hope to scare them.

Disappointing...

To be fair, Jon does have a moment where he has a close up and jokes about how old he is. But it’s just a bit to say how much older the other two are.

he can still be funny but I was disappointed he basically just rolled old jokes the entire show

I gave The Floor with Rob Lowe a try. Nope. Not a surprise for me. I don't hate it - it's exactly what it's supposed to be, but I just haven't been able to sit through anything like it since the original run of Millionaire.

I've fallen for the Great Bake Off or whatever it's called from the UK.

Criminal Record (also from the UK) has been very good and 1) Is another UK series that beats most of what's in the U.S. 2) Is another short-form series that to me is always preferred. I can't recall the last long-form series I watched all 20-something episodes. Maybe HIMYM.

Great British Bake Off. It's wonderful! I envy you; I've seen them all, while you can see about 20 seasons! All are great, except when they have celebs on holiday shows, which of course defeats the whole purpose.

They are so kind to each other.

It's so very British. There was 1 season of it in the U.S. which I actually did not hate, but I think it was the only 1.

The UK version of Traitors is also superior to the U.S. version, at least from what I can because the US one was 'celebrity' only and none of them were at all interesting. I universally despite any 'celebrity' knock-off.

He did the same thing on the CBS Morning Show...mocking his own age as a way to mock their age. I thought it was unfunny but I gave him the benefit of the doubt because it looked like he caught a Redeye to get there but watching him basically do the same thing as part of his EPIC RETURN TO TDS!1!1! was...yikes.

Scooby,

Read the words without Stewart being there...take him out of the equation and just focus on the content. A lot of people seem to be giving him wide birth because they are pumped he is back. But the commentary he is giving is no different than the rhetoric we have been destroying for weeks now. Its the same "Oh sure Trump is terrible but Biden is only slightly less terrible because he is old and we need young and virile to protect us...blah blah blah". If Bill Maher said the same words we would all be castigating him and rightfully so. (I wouldn't be surprised if Maher mentions it and applauds it even though he doesnt seem to like Jon all that much)

And make no mistake that is what he did. He made sure to mention all the bad things associated with Trump (in a very fast paced sort of aside) but then said because of all that whoever is his opposing candidate needs to be the best of best. Completely above reproach and unstoppable. (Like he said, Conan the Barbarian protecting the gate!) Phuck that and phuck him. He is exactly what you usually mock Democrats for being. He isn't in love with Joe Biden, so he makes sure to take his hacky azz jokes about his age to get digs in. It is pathetic and tired and honestly it stinks of a bad reboot.

My SO loves that show...I just can't. British people are annoying ;^)

(they are very nice people on that show though)

I think the Stand Up to Cancer ones are not available in the US. At least not that I could find. Only the holiday themed ones, of which there have only been 3 with celebs that I can tell. Those 3 were ok though I thought. But the only people I recognized were the Derry Girls.

Looks like the 1st 7 seasons of GBBS are on The Roku Channel. Everything after that is on Netflix. Sue and Mel were always the best hosts. But the Sandi/Noel combo was good too. And I think Noel continues to be good overall. Matt Lucas was a bad fit. Allison Hammond seemed ok in here 1 season so far.

The Derry Girls special Bake Off show was fun, otherwise yeah the celebrity ones are lame.

The heart of it is the warmth and kindness. If it wasn’t the turnover of hosts and judges would be a problem. Just keeps trucking, though.

I really like that Old Gregg has been a host for quite some time now.

Wow. I did not take what Jon Stewart did like that at all.

Me neither. Somebody's grumpy. He was fine, and it was so good to have him back.

The show sucks without him and he sucks without the show. I hope these years have taught him that, and he just does it FT until he croaks.
