TIGER WOODS hurt in car accident.

Re: TIGER WOODS hurt in car accident.

Hard to compare motive, when means and opportunity are so wildly different.

I didn't know how you treat others depended upon how many people you knew and how much others liked you based on your image.

The fact is that people like these decide its OK because they don't have that standard and others around them don't have those standards. The only thing that matters is that people accept that actions of roving creepballs because those in power and access tend also to be creepballs*... the money didn't make them that way... money only provides an opportunity.

*Lets recall that morality is only a restriction on the possible decisions one can make. This is why those at upper levels tend to those who do these things. The more possible decisions the more optimal your choice can be whether its money, power, or women. At that point then its a matter of being in a situation where you won't face social pressure for his mistakes. Gotta wonder how many people he meets will give him the thumbs up for this.

Re: TIGER WOODS hurt in car accident.

Relax. It was a joke. Of course he's morally wrong.

(At the risk of getting sucked in, when you say "these people" you're using a crutch. Athletes, actors, politicians, preachers -- outside their particular niche they're just a cross-section. Shlubby Joe the Honestly Poor Mechanic would be just as likely or unlikely to cheat on his hot supermodel wife with his hot supermodel mistress if he had the cash and the itinerary to get either. Some people are moral, some aren't; wealth and fame aren't corrupting, they're just enabling.)

(845): Just set a new record on Need For Speed at the arcade. Had to enter Tiger Woods as the name.

Re: TIGER WOODS hurt in car accident.

Maybe the wife misunderstood Tiger when he said he was taking his Caddy out for a drive?
Not that there's anything wrong with that.... :D

Re: TIGER WOODS hurt in car accident.

And now this brief interlude from the jokes (which are wicked funny, BTW).

Aside from his considerable physical gifts what puts Tiger apart from the other pros is his phenominal discipline and concentration. Before this business started, how many of us would have checked the box by his name under the heading "probable adulterers?" Not many, I suspect. It just seems inconsistent with what we thought we knew about him.

Proof once again that a "***k has no brains."

And now back to our regularly scheduled tomfoolery.

True dat. I never thought Tiger was a particularly upright citizen -- just a humorless, unimaginative robot. It's just such a monumentally stupid action, on the order of Clinton or Spitzer. "It was worse than a crime, it was a blunder." -- Talleyrand

Some others I've heard ...

"Apparently, the only person who can beat Tiger Woods with a golf club is his wife."

"This is the first time Tiger's ever failed to drive more than 300 yards."

Re: TIGER WOODS hurt in car accident.

Jesper Parnevik, the Swedish golfer who along with his wife, Mia, introduced Elin Nordegren to Tiger Woods, is none too pleased with the world's No. 1 golfer.

Parnevik, 44, who is playing at the PGA Tour's qualifying tournament in West Palm Beach, Fla., told the Golf Channel on Wednesday that "I really feel sorry for Elin," in light of reports that Woods has been unfaithful.

Woods issued an apology on his Web site Wednesday for "transgressions," in the wake of a report that he had a 31-month affair with a Los Angeles woman.

Nordegren, 29, began working for the Parneviks as a nanny in 2000. She was first introduced to Woods at the 2001 British Open and they were married in 2004.

"I would be especially sad about it since I'm kind of -- I really feel sorry for Elin -- since me and my wife were at fault for hooking her up with him," Parnevik said. "We probably thought he was a better guy than he is. I would probably need to apologize to her and hope she uses a driver next time instead of the 3-iron."

In a statement issued Wednesday, Woods strongly denied any physical altercation between him and his wife. "The stories in particular that physical violence played any role in the car accident were utterly false and malicious."

According to Windermere (Fla.) police chief Daniel Saylor, Woods' wife of five years used a golf club to break the back window of Woods' SUV to get him out of the car after she heard the accident in the early hours of Saturday.

Parnevik, a five-time PGA Tour winner, said he has had no contact with Woods since the accident on Friday.

"It's a private thing of course," he said. "But when you are the guy he is, the world's best athlete, you should think more before you do stuff ... And maybe not just do it, like Nike says."

:)
