True, but we know who won't be ranked and have a decent idea of who will
Remember...no one is ranked yet ! The NCAA uses their rankings...not the USCHO poll !
But we have seen some shockers over the years....and we will never know what goes on in the smoke filled room ! That final ranking is left an untold mystery !True, but we know who won't be ranked and have a decent idea of who will
The NESCAC has an impressive SOS without a doubt, but not as good as the W's from top-to-bottom.
Trinity's OOC was tenuous at best. Then they lost to an unranked team in the NESCAC semis. Downfall.
Plus, there is the possible "right to defend a national championship" vote that might come into play if teams are on the bubble.
Sure, but if it were fair for the committee to consider that, then it would also be fair for them to consider that Jacobson is done for the season.
I think SNC needs to play as if it's AQ or bust...
I think that consideration should only come in to play if SNC is in the mix for the remaining Pool C and all other criteria have been reviewed and they still don't have a crystal clear school that comes out on top. They would probably have to do it on the road, but at least they would have opportunity to defend their title. In golf, the previous year's major winner gets an auto invite to same tournament the following year, regardless of how they have played leading up to the next tournament. I'm not saying that if SNC finishes .500 that they should get an auto-invite. I'm just saying that, after all things considered, if they are still a plausible selection that would get little contention from the masses, I think it should be an article of deliberation.
If its not a documented criteria, then it should not be considered....but....these are humans after all..
They are human for sure. I just posted that for conjecture. I don't see it coming into play, humans are humans. Currently SNC is ranked 8 in the both polls. In the West they are ranked 4 in both polls. I don't see that changing unless they lay an egg against Northland. I actually see them moving ahead of River Falls in both polls as River Falls still has Stevens Point and Eau Claire left on their schedule. Thus, they may come out ranked #3 in the west. That should be enough to earn them a Pool C if they cannot win their conference tournament. They do have the head-to-head win over Eau Claire which might loom large in the selection.
As stated many times...
...those polls mean about as much as my recommendations to Obama.
Your recommendations to Obama? Wait, so the last six years are all your fault? I knew it had to be Oswego's fault!
Only because they have twice as many teams. I could say they have 10 teams in the top 50% of all DIII hockey, while the ECEC-W only has 5.
WIAC #2 and maybe #3 over UMB and SNC. UMB's body of work is not strong.prognostication:

Lake Forest (if LFC splits with Adrian this weekend and reaches the conference final, I think their resume might be stronger than SNC's
I also think SNC really needs to root for St Thomas to win the MIAC tournament.
