Marleau's shorthanded, hat-trick tying goal was a perfect example of how this season has been going. Just skate it around the goaltender, tuck it in unopposed. That's what happens when you have an AHL goaltender behind an AHL team and bunch of low-end NHLers

On the plus side, seeing Pat Quinn's reactions to the incredibly awful team he got suckered into coaching is probably worth it. Hopefully he'll have a heart attack or something this season. Come on, #1 draft pick!

Fedotenko tried to slew foot him. That's why he went crazy. And Avery drew blood from Ruslan clawing him.


Anyways, the Rangers were awful. It was nice to finally see someone stand up for the rest of the team (Brashear attempted, Callahan successful), albeit on a legal hit by Cooke.

Valiquette is a bad backup goalie. In Renney's system he was serviceable, but today's game proved that he can't get a hot streak, he needs a lot of defensive support.

Hopefully Dubinsky mends quickly so they can make a run, or on the opposite end tank the season and possibly have a chance at Hall or Seguin. :rolleyes:

i see the scratch... but ruslan was stepping through to get the puck and clear it. he didn't look down. barely made contact.

of course that is my view on the replay -- but.

Ovechkin just blew-out his knee throwing a check in Raleigh tonight. Skated off the ice with no weight on the knee with assistance of a teammate.

Thoughts from the game against the Leafs tonight (from my seat on the couch).

I) I love Ryan Miller (as much as a man can love another man in a heterosexual manner)

B) The D did an excellent job of clearing the puck any time that Miller over-pursued or was out of position for whatever reason.

3) The Leafs' socks are ugly. They look like blue-and-white bumblebees.

d) Why, oh why do so many games of their Monday games in this month have to be on Versus? Yes, I actually get to see the games, but the announcers are awful, and they don't show half of the penalties, and the cameras can't follow the puck.

v) Ovie should have been suspended for his hit on Kaleta. He's going to (or should) be suspended for his "hit" on Gleason. But, any suspension is going to be negated by his "injury," which he will undoubtedly suffer from until the suspension is over.

No. The injury is real. But, we have no idea how severe the injury really is (he didn't have to go to the hospital was the only comment). And, no NHL-issued suspension would be longer than the time it takes to recover from the injury. Say the injury is minor (he had to come out of the game, but would have been able to come back in time for their next game on Thursday)... but the suspension is for two games. I'd bet that the lineup sheet for the Caps next two games has him listed as injured, not as suspended by the NHL.

the funny thing is that ballard still goes after the post a second time even after he hits vokoun. i guess he had two things to be mad about at that point.

here is kevin kapstad of UNH doing the same thing a few years back. watch after the 4 on 0 goal.

Not only did Ballard hit the post twice...He also skated away after it either not caring or not realizing he hit Vokoun.:eek:

Maybe while Vokoun's out, Ballard can apologize by filling in. ;)

Although they did pick up Clemmensen in the offseason, so I guess it isn't a complete disaster for the Panthers.
