Bruins extend Marc Savard for 7-years with only a $4.2 million cap hit!

Not so fast - the Bruins are denying it up and down.

If true though, the Bruins somehow managed to do something pretty good. Now they need to convince a goal scorer to play for 2M a year, which is what Lucic should be making, and all will actually be fine in Boston.

Done deal now, obviously the team site won't discuss money though.

No. The injury is real. But, we have no idea how severe the injury really is (he didn't have to go to the hospital was the only comment). And, no NHL-issued suspension would be longer than the time it takes to recover from the injury. Say the injury is minor (he had to come out of the game, but would have been able to come back in time for their next game on Thursday)... but the suspension is for two games. I'd bet that the lineup sheet for the Caps next two games has him listed as injured, not as suspended by the NHL.
He's been suspended two games and is day-to-day with a sore knee

He was able to skate for 10 minutes (without any gear on) prior to the rest of the team showing up, while barely putting pressure on his right leg. If that's day-to-day, color me shocked.

(Pardon the ranting against Ovie. Yes, he's talented. I'm just not a personal fan, and I don't think the NHL should turn into the C-M-O show (or at least any more than it already is).)

Marc Savard's deal, year-by-year:

$7M, $7M, $6.5M, $5M, $1.5, $525K, $525K.

Now, I know its the new rage to do these deals that get around the cap by knocking down the cap hit, but this one screams ridiculous. A $3.5 million dollar drop between years four and five? I guess that's allowed but it seems crazy.

Apparently, Colton Orr just scored. I can't see the game and don't know the circumstances, but that's probably not a good omen for Carey Price.

Anyway, just about time for CBJ @ CHI.

Mason was very angry. He better be careful, lest he whack himself in the head.

Coming into that, he only had something like a 30% stop rate in the shootout... He finally gets his act together, and they can't put more than one past Huet in 11 tries...

Stephen Weiss with a hattrick in Florida.

Chicago calls a press conference for tomorrow to announce:

5 year extension for Toews.
5 year extension for Kane.
13 year deal for Keith.

The Bruins are being outplayed, but lead 4-1. Whoa.
