*sigh*. My "boycott the Rangers until Donald Brashear is no longer on the team" plan does not appear to be doing a very good job of resisting the first Rangers-Islanders game of the year.

At least Brashear isn't playing. Now if only we can get them to obtain another defenseman and bench either Staal or Girardi for a game or two after their atrocious play as of late.

You were done in by the Isles' secret weapon and leading scorer. :)

I wouldn't worry, though. NYI have won exactly 2 of 11. You aren't likely to contribute too many of the additional dozen we'll accumulate this season.

I hate the (2009-10) Bruins.

It's basically the same team as 2008-2009 just now showing their true colors and how much they overacheived last season.

The playoffs were the first glimpse of the fall of the Bruins:cool:

I said it all last season that I didnt think the Bruins were as good as their record and especially Tim Thomas.

Wings are farking brutal so far tonight. Can't keep guys away from the crease and Edmental is getting all the lucky deflections they have needed so far.

Your insights are awesome in their uselessness.

"I don't like the team, hence they suck."

To be fair, a lot of Bruins did overachieve last year. :p

So many clinkers off the post...

Could be 5-4 or 5-5 right now if those go in.

When it rains, it pours.

Filppula out 6-8 weeks with a broken wrist. Holland has said they won't be recalling anybody from the minors at this point to replace him.

2 more goals for Ovechkin last night. He's got 13 in 12 games.

Bruins are a joke. When are newbie fans of theirs going to start listening to their elders when we say we've seen it all before. Hire new coach, give a bunch of hard working stiffs a chance to play regularly, and they overachieve for a year. B's jack up ticket prices through the roof, sheep like fans line owner Monty Burns' pockets, and early playoff exits are considered 'great success'. Next year team falls back to its talent level, coach gets blamed and fired, ticket prices continue to rise, and sheep like fans line owner's pockets once again.

You want to see signs of a Bruins turn around? It'll start with 1) good use of the draft in consecutive seasons. 2) Top level talent. 3) The coach and GM stop using the phrase "back-checking" in every sentence when describing the most important attribute a player can bring to the team.

Until they get away from the 'lets grind out 1-0 wins all year by playing like New Jersey circa 1995' only without the future Hall of Famers (Brodeur, Stevens) that team had, expect a lot more seasons like this, 37 years and counting, while venerable franchises such as the Ducks, Lightening, and Hurricanes take home the Cup.

Reading the brainless commentary of Avs fans wetting their pants about bloggers giving legitimate reasoning for the fact that Craig Anderson isn't going to be able to win every game this year and a team can't win every game when they don't outshoot their opponents and they will end up sliding backwards in the West is quite fun

Yeah, regression to the mean there is going to be a rough ride for all those "die hard" fans that all injured each other getting back on the bandwagon.

TORONTO (October 30, 2009) – The National Hockey League Players’ Association made the following statement today:

"Interim Executive Director Ian Penny informed the NHLPA staff and the NHLPA Executive Board earlier today that it is his position he has been constructively dismissed as Interim Executive Director of the NHLPA and can no longer work in the present circumstances. Effective today, Ian Penny is no longer employed by the NHLPA.

There have been inaccurate media reports circulating today that the NHLPA has suspended operations. The NHLPA staff continues to work very hard on behalf of the players in all areas of the Association's business and will continue to do so going forward.

The NHLPA will make no further comment today on this internal matter."
