That penalty by Niedermayer on the feed I'm watching looked MUCH worse. I thought Grabovski was going to be dead there on a filthy hit.

Agreed. Just a little frustration there!

The Monster has looked outstanding. Toskola might be Marlies bound!

Gaborik limped to the lockerroom in the 3rd period after a 2 goal game. Hopefully the groin didn't fall off again.

I was at the game and talked to John Giannone afterwards and he said the injury actually happened when Drury came off the ice after getting hit in the neck by the slapshot from the blueline.

It wasn't the groin but the knee. He did come out for another shift but I guess with the weight on it he wasn't feeling it and they took him out for precautionary reasons with a 5-2 lead.

We also caught up with Jim Ramsey, head trainer, leaving the Garden and he said "he'll be fine". Now I dont know how much to read into it, like he's going to tell a group of Ranger fans outside the Garden on his way out that Gaborik has a significant injury or anything of the sort but still.

Official word on the street is it's being called a "bruise"

We'll see if he skates in practice tomorrow or they hold him out.

I'll be really bummed if he's out of the Islanders game on Wednesday since I'm going to be at that one too.

Note: he comes back to Minnesota on Friday. We know his groin is fragile, but I'm wondering how his ego might take the "homecomming" of sorts?

There seem to be many here that are planning their anti-Gabby antics well in advance. For the record, I'm not one of them--I'll give him a pollite clap and be done with it. Then hope that Havlat (or someone, anybody) will break out and maybe put up a 6 spot; at the very least, a point and a Wild win.

I'd love it if John Scott laid him out. Cleanly, of course.

From the Center Ice promo page on DirecTV's website:

See your favorite team wherever they're playing

Whether you're rooting for local heroes or faraway champs, the only way to follow your NHL teams throughout the season is with NHL® Center Ice®.
You'll get:

* Up to 40 exciting games a week and select playoff games
* Many games in blazing HD*
* Dual feeds: Choose from either the home or away broadcasts

This morning I crunched the numbers from the DirecTV Center Ice schedule. I have not included the Hockey Night in Canada HD broadcasts carried on the NHL Network, only those games shown on the Center Ice channels.

Here's the results from the start of the season through last night:

Number of games involving Canadian teams broadcast on the Center Ice channels: 37

Number of games with 2 Canadian teams: 12

Number of games with 2 Canadian teams shown in HD: 0

Number of games with US vs Canadian teams: 25

Number of games with US vs Canadian teams with both feeds: 10

Number of games with US vs Canadian teams with both feeds in HD: 0

Number of games with US vs Canadian teams with single feed in HD: 4

Of those four games, I know that last night's Toronto - Anaheim game was the Anaheim feed. I'm not sure about the other three (Dallas/Edmonton on 10/6, Colorado/Montreal on 10/15 and Boston/Ottawa on 10/24) but my guess would be they were the US feeds.

CONCLUSION:

With less than a month gone in the season, less than half of the games between US and Canadian teams have offered both feeds.

None of the games between Canadian teams and none of the games with both US and Canadian feeds offered the Canadian feed in HD.

The NHL should be held accountable for what appears to be a blatant case of false advertising, at least as far as fans of ALL of the Canadian teams are concerned.

Anyone have the package and want to call them on that? I'd be curious to see what they say.
