The 112th Congress - A Congress divided shall not cry!

Re: The 112th Congress - A Congress divided shall not cry!

It will be so cute when certain people on this board (the ones who supported Dubya tooth and nail but then as soon as Obama won somehow none of these people voted for Dubya and amazingly never approved of him despite all evidence to the contrary) feel the need to talk her up, defend her idiocy and talk about how everyone is attacking her and she is exactly what this country needs.

I don't believe anybody on this board is that stupid. I'll throw them a bone on Palin -- she came from nowhere and they were in the middle of a campaign and had to delude themselves out of partisanship. But Bachmann's already old, crazy news.

Most interesting question to me about the next general is who Obama's VP will be. Biden brings nothing to the table and is a waste looking forward to 2016. Obama is already a proven commodity so a fairly fresh face is completely reasonable. I'd have guessed Webb but not so much now. The blue dogs haven't given him anything so there's no reason to recognize them. A cerebrally-functioning female would completely destroy the Palin-ish narrative. A military figure would toast them on national security. Many choices.

I think Handy and Scooby care about 597 million times more about Bachmann than conservatives do.

Re: The 112th Congress - A Congress divided shall not cry!

I seriously doubt that. You just straw polled Ron Paul again.

Eh, him and Romney were the only ones who actually tried to win. (Paul paid $100,000 to buy tickets for people to come vote for him). So predictably they finished 1-2. The attention paid by Paul to winning the poll has, sort of paradoxically, made it quite meaningless.

Clearly they were the ones to vote her in.

Right, but I don't think the people of her district would be particularly bothered if she retired tomorrow. Unlike many liberals, they realize that she's one Republican who holds very very little power on a national level. Whereas, to hear some lefty sites tell it, she's the de facto Republican presidential candidate and the very conscience of the party.

Ya I'm sure she only gets press and notice because the librals are pointing out how off the wall she is. What did she do after the SOTU speech again? Was that liberal sponsored?

"They shot her from a bad angle, unlike the web broadcast I watched. Its all the Progressive PC totalitarian "ruling elite" that thinks they can herd the dumb sheeple and tell them what to think. They are not subtle. "

"Michelle is an angel of FREEDOM FOR ALL...of course CNN screwed her but it didn't matter...her message is strong and clear...she is a Patriotic Light and Beacon to all who wish FREEDOM FOR ALL. She is a Nightmare to all who don't!

Blaming liberals for Bachman exposure is as ludicrous as blaming them for Palin exposure. It was liberals that made Palin run as VP, embarass herself during interviews, sign up for a reality show on cable, go on Fox News.....

Heh. I don't know what that's supposed to prove though. Of course there are conservatives who like her. Congrats, you found some on the internet. I'm sure that was difficult.
However, look at the actual evidence of how the party treats her though. She moved to run for a leadership position back in November and was quickly and fiercely slapped down.
That doesn't mean that she still isn't living rent-free in many liberals heads. For instance, the Michelle Bachmann page on Huff Po. Or anytime Chris Matthews is allowed to talk uninterrupted for more than 30 seconds.

Blaming liberals for Bachman exposure is as ludicrous as blaming them for Palin exposure. It was liberals that made Palin run as VP, embarass herself during interviews, sign up for a reality show on cable, go on Fox News.....

Whoa. Where did anyone "blame" liberals for Bachmann? I don't contest the notion that she's an idiot, and that's no one's fault but hers. My point is though, is that idiocy is hardly unique to her among Congresspeople. And that there are tons of liberals who she matters to- a lot.

I thought that blame would go to the Minnesotans who keep voting her in. Maybe she gets the immaculate election:D

Well, of course, the first person who needs to be blamed here is Sarah Palin, as I should have noted.

But winning a district despite acting like a buffoon is again hardly unique to Bachmann. For references, I point you to the 80% Charlie Rangel racked up this year, despite ethics violations up the wazoo. Or the 79.3% Maxine Waters received in a similar situation. Or the 90% Louie Gohmert got. Or....

Re: The 112th Congress - A Congress divided shall not cry!

She was a major buy yesterday too, and a month ago, and before that...

It's not like she needs a Tea Party challenge to make her appear viable.

No, but she's a master at playing both sides to the middle. Challenging her with a candidate who isn't viable is playing right into her hands. It couldn't work out any better.

I think the GOP has a chance to unseat her, and maybe even with a candidate to the right of her, but it's going to take a really good candidate and a really good campaign.

Short of that, and you're just playing right into her campaign handbook.

I was referring to in essence the thoughts behind your last sentence. She doesn't matter to liberals anymore than Palin mattered to liberals did when conservatives claimed Palin wouldn't be on anyone's radar were it not for liberals. They are out there because they put themself out there (a la running as VP, embarassing herself during interviews, signing up for a reality show on cable, going on Fox News.....) and their actions offern garner a reaction. There's another board where the mantra was, "what are liberals so afraid of?" when it comes to either of them and it has nothing do with that.

Sort of like how pointing out how some liberals mention her therefore proves that they are to blame for her noteriety.....

Oh for cripes sake. I don't recall ever making that claim. She's notorious, because as I just admitted she's a dummy. I never said anything to the contrary.

What I did say, was that she matters a lot more to liberals here than conservatives. (See Handy referencing her totally out of the blue). It would be like if I dropped a Mike Gravel reference every third post.

Oh believe me, I get what you mean on that front. I'm quite well acquainted with the Palinbots, unfortunately. But again, I'm not one of those people. I don't dispute that Bachmann is an idiot (this is the 3rd time in an hour I've said that in fact).

Didn't think you were, just wanted to clarify.

I may have gone down a slippery slope but you said this first.

"Whereas, to hear some lefty sites tell it, she's the de facto Republican presidential candidate and the very conscience of the party."

So I rebutted by pointing to a conservative site that act like she's the rule 63 for jesus. You then went "well that doesn't mean anything".... Your implication is pretty clear, that liberals keep bringing up Palin, Bachman, or insert knuckledragger and that they only do so because they are obsessed with them and others. Rather than the simple fact they they are visible conservative political figures.

I don't think rebuttal is the word you're looking for there. That would imply you've proved that lefty sites don't do that. You've done nothing to prove that at all. You want me to say there are conservatives who overstate her power as well? Sure. There, done.

But again look at the larger party (you know, the people who actually matter). There, she goes nowhere.

Keep in mind that this all started with this:
On a different topic I cannot wait until Michelle Bachman gets nominated for higher office and we can read the likes of Bob gray and Minnfann in here telling us how she isn't batchit crazy. :D

Handy seems to be under the impression that people around here are sitting around saying "Gosh, I hope Bachmann runs!" , where I think if she were to ever run for some higher office, the general reaction among us would be "****!" and then a big sigh.

Continuing with his delusions:
Yeah but the cons love her...she is the talk of CPAC right now.

Umm, no. She was not the talk of CPAC, she gave a talk at CPAC. Like about 500 other people this week. Mitch Daniels speech was more talked about for cripes sakes.

Also, she is not "loved" by the cons. A PPP poll found her favorability among Republicans at +14. That's behind Huckabee (+43) and Gingrich (+29) by wide margins. Just to name a few.

think Bachman will get serious talk for VP, and I will laugh my way to the polls that day.

This is what I'm talking about.

It's fun to watch the righties underestimate Bachmann. Palin doesn't run and Bachmann will fill that vacuum and suck a lot of energy out of the Republican primary process.
