What is the endgame? Kavanaugh is a Justice and won't be impeached over this...so it just looks like a Senator half the country has never heard of is attacking the guy after the fact. It is a bad look...and it will be for naught.

I don't think Whitehouse acting as the "I am going to fix the FBI" guy is a good look. He is right about oversight and that the FBI has gotten away with stonewalling for too long but I dunno between this and attacking Wray when he was testifying about 1/6 it just seems like a miscalculation to me and makes him look like the GOPers we mock.

My feeling as well

I don't necessarily like his tactics, but I don't think they can sweep it under the rug either. A behind the scenes record showing proof of the botched Kavanaugh investigation and anything else they botched up is important to fix things going forward. Maybe just getting the Attorney General to handle this at the FBI internally instead of involving Congress is warranted.

I agree with this. He's got that seat for life, nothing is going to change that, but it doesn't mean they shouldn't air out any misdeeds that occurred at the FBI during his confirmation process. Misdeeds which may have occurred on orders from the Trump White House.

If it proves Kavanaugh lied his ass off under questioning...?

It's the beginning of Brettghazi

And again...so what? He is not some flunky he is a Supreme Court Justice he is going nowhere.

He's not, but that's not an excuse for letting it slide, either.

They buried the investigation before it got stared, obviously. They fucked over Blasey Ford because they wanted their rapey stooge. And obviously they will stand as one and block any accountability, because they're Nazis.

But we aren't and as Americans we still do the right thing, even if a bunch of thugs can for the time being at least prevent justice from being done.

It's not a likely scenario but it's not completely out of the realm either. Now snarkly dismiss it I can take it.

I dont have to say anything snarky...he won't be removed and you know it. If the Dems go after Brett they will look horrible. In fact they likely kill all momentum they have for the Midterms because of the Stimulus if they do it. All for a headline...

There is a reason only one SC has ever been impeached...and we know Drunky ain't resigning. So basically this is the Dems getting revenge for Benghazi.

If Whitehouse wants to yell at the FBI fine...he could pick his timing better but whatever they tanked it and everyone knows it. If they turn this into a referendum on Brett and push for removal that will be a Trump level miscalculation.

"The Dems" don't have to go after Justice Drunky Rapist. Just have the normal functioning of government. So, the investigation was spiked, that's a violation of process -- have an investigation and publish the results.

Never refrain from good governance because of the political optics. It's not the business of the hairdos in Congress to be spearheading an investigation, anyway. Leave that circus crap to the Republicans and Benghazi XL. Just let the wheels of justice turn. Keep the Members out of it.

Correct. They will whine that we're going after Drunky McRapist Fuckburger but screw them and their whining.

A couple of decisions today.

THe most interesting to me was Torres v Madrid. The police state was dealt what will probably be a blow. Roberts wrote. When a cop shoots someone, that's a seizure. It went even further, "The application of physical force to the body of a person with intent to restrain is a seizure, even if the force does not succeed in subduing the person."

I'm an idiot, but this opinion reads pretty aggressive. I get the impression this was either hotly contested (the dissent from Gorsuch, joined by Thomas and Alito) was pretty snippy too; or Roberts has a soft spot for the 4th.

Edit: Blatant rip off of SCOTUSBlog's summary of the other:
This was a case, as the Kagan intro explains (she could basically put me out of business), in which a Ford car was in an accident in the state where the lawsuit was brought and the victim was a resident of that state. Ford did business in that state, but the car was not first sold in the state and it wasn't designed or manufactured there. Ford argued that jurisdiction was therefore improper, but today the Court rejects that argument.
