You are jizzing your pants cause she is voting for a qualified candidate in a vote her side was set to lose anyways? Jesus way to set the bar low Drew...

Not only lose, but shapes the judgements in no meaningful way. But hey, the simpletons will eat it up as BIPARTISANSHIP!!!!!

So after CT chokes on a pretzel we put the 18-year old Malcolm X up there, right?

The morons scream like scalded babies anyway, so let's do it.

Right here. She was going to get confirmed anyway. This is the prototypical Susan Collins vote. She is what is wrong with America. Her and Manchin can just retire. Now.

This. Posture when it doesn't matter. Sniff Mitch's butt when it does. She is worthless and Mainers are contemptible for re-upping her after they knew.

The wife of the soon-to-be senior SCOTUS justice is a traitor. That's just great.

Not according to the Democratic House Leader Nancy Pelosi. Fortunately someone asked her a question about it, or we may never have heard about this from the Democrats. Even then, she managed to stammer out some gibberish that failed to convey the point you make.

REPORTER: Do you think Clarence Thomas should resign? PELOSI: I don't think he ever should've been appointed ... [but] if your wife is an admitted and proud contributor to a coup of our country, maybe you should weigh that in your ethical standards

If the shoe were on the other foot, it would be a non-stop news cycle enough to make John Roberts squirm, everyone would be on message that you will investigate the conflict of interest, and cause the press to think its important enough to ask every Republican they see about.

instead we get a "ho-hum, I never liked him and maybe he will do the right thing, but who knows."

Our leadership is, quite literally, toothless. If Nancy Pelosi were President of Ukraine the Russians would already be to Moldova.

The Olds must die. No Dem over 60 in a public-facing position, ever again.

It's like they think they're talking to their educated base, rather than fighting for the middle of the pack of voters who either don't pay attention or only hear the shouting. As a result, large groups of voters think Biden is doing a poor job in the Ukraine, the economy stinks, and people don't like Thomas because of some arcane technicality.

I think this is exactly correct. Most people - the overwhelming majority in fact - pay zero attention outside of, perhaps, a quick blurb if they have the news on in the background while cooking dinner. For the DNC leadership to assume that people are listening and engaged is the height of pompous naivete. Meanwhile the MAGAts are screaming about Hunter Biden's laptop and that's what sticks.

If you want to get people's attention, you need to go get their god damned attention.

This has been the Dems' problem since the intellectual wing took over in the early 70s. My people are the problem. Working class Dems in the tradition of Al Smith got pushed out by ivory tower know-it-alls who act and think as if everyone is capable of understanding Kantian ethics and John Dewey school reform. Well, they're not. The vast majority of people are not up to that. They're fine people, and they're brilliant in their specific lines of work, but they have zero ability to think abstractly. They aren't stupid, but they aren't imaginative or creative. They're good worker bees.

That's who we should always be speaking to. But we don't because the selection mechanism for Democratic leadership is academic-meritocratic rather than populist-pragmatist. That's how you wind up with Nancy Pelosi and for that matter Barack Obama. And the common man HATES them, because the common man hates people whose very existence demonstrates their limitations.

The GOP had the same problem in the 1950s and 1960s. They solved it cynically, by wheeling a dopey, avuncular puppet who knew how to read his lines out there. Reagan was a populist front man who aw shucksed the common man into a loving subservience, while the sharps in the back room stole everything not nailed down. The GOP intellectual vanguard did this deliberately, coming off the Leo Strauss noble lie treadmill.

We need to do the same. Be smart, be strategic, build a better world -- but send some dopey happy face out there to push it down the electorate's throat with a spoonful of sugar.

Inject this (and the OP) straight into my veins.

Read an interesting article after this ruling came out.
"If SCOTUS rules on regulation without a hearing or argument, the administration should simply ignore it and state that, in the absence of a normal process judicial review, it sees the court’s judgments as advisory but not binding," Wilkinson tweeted.
