I mean...

I laugh at you because you pushed 6+ justices for my sake. The point is, for me and the kids I mentor and protect, it wasn't something that can be done now. Please learn if you use me as an example for why we need something, remember my thoughts are "act justly, NOW. Love mercy, NOW. Walk humbly, NOW."

6+ justices doesn't fit that description. I am not telling the queer kids I mentor and protect "sorry, no one's coming to help us; they're too busy chasing fairy tales."

But as Slate's Mark Joseph Stern explained, Justice Clarence Thomas went much further in his own dissent, which targeted the integrity of voting by mail.
"Voting by mail was traditionally limited to voters who had defined, well-documented reasons to be absent," he wrote. The current trend toward more "permissive" mail voting, the justice warned, "vastly" increases "the risk of fraud." Thomas drew heavily from a 2012 New York Times article focusing on Florida's mail voting regime, which focused on a handful of fraudulent schemes involving mail ballots. The justice also pointed to a Republican operative's criminal attempt to steal an election in North Carolina using mail ballots. In reality, this kind of voter fraud is vanishingly rare, and its few perpetrators have been caught and prosecuted.

Thomas kept going, suggesting laws may be necessary to curtail postal balloting, to avoid the "appearance" of corruption, even if voting by mail is secure and reliable. He added that even if there's no evidence of election fraud, that's not "sufficient for election confidence."

To avoid the appearance of fraud, even if it’s proven to be secure????

how about we don’t let gays marry so we don’t upset cons with the appearance of same sex love

nothing in the world more fragile than a conservative who realizes the world is moving on.

It's kind of ironic that the racist party members are concerned about the appearance of corruption all of a sudden.

Dumpy making money during his being president does not have the appearance of corruption, even though it is, and voting by mail has the appearance of corruption, even though it's not.

Sort of like porn, I guess- we will know what it is when someone tells us it is.

Yep, now that the Dems are in charge again suddenly the deficit matters, old social media posts matter, temperament matters, and the mere appearance of any possible impropriety matters. Especially for brown women. Can't have too many of them uppity types in gubmint. They hate white men and get too emotional, don'tcha know. Also, have I mentioned that I LIKE BEER! ELECTION WAS STOLEN! COMIN' FER MUH GUNZ! WW1WGA!

Like clockwork.

“Democratic Senator Sheldon Whitehouse is alleging that the FBI’s background investigation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was fake. Whitehouse sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland last Thursday asking him to conduct “proper oversight” into the bureau’s 2018 probe into sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh, stating the investigation “appears to have been a politically-constrained and perhaps fake.”

“If standard procedures were violated, and the Bureau conducted a fake investigation rather than a sincere, thorough and professional one, that in my view merits congressional oversight to understand how, why, and at whose behest and with whose knowledge or connivance, this was done,” Whitehouse wrote.

It was obviously curtailed.

Is there anything behind that or just bluster?
Even then, the only solution is impeachment, right?

Yeah, but that would never fly. The culprits in this case would be the ones who orchestrated the fake investigation. They could face punishment for that, but Kavanagh skates and stays on the bench.

What is the endgame? Kavanaugh is a Justice and won't be impeached over this...so it just looks like a Senator half the country has never heard of is attacking the guy after the fact. It is a bad look...and it will be for naught.

I don't think Whitehouse acting as the "I am going to fix the FBI" guy is a good look. He is right about oversight and that the FBI has gotten away with stonewalling for too long but I dunno between this and attacking Wray when he was testifying about 1/6 it just seems like a miscalculation to me and makes him look like the GOPers we mock.
