Sandusky/Penn State scandal

Re: Sandusky/Penn State scandal

Not from where I'm sitting. But let's stop this. I've said I'm prepared to behave and I am. So can the guardians of standards give it a rest so we can move on? Maybe you could suggest to our friend from Iowa to give it a rest, too.

Apparently you're too busy playing the "victim" to notice the difference.
You aren't being persecuted or attacked, you are being asked to stop political attacks in a thread where they have no place.

Yeah, Wilbur, I understand. Learned me how to read and everything. I'm not a victim. And certainly not of yours. I'm merely pointing out that in your efforts to make sure nobody talks during class, that you've called me names, too. Strikes me as a tad inconsistent. Suggests a certain insincerity. As I've said now several times, I'm prepared to stop whenever you are.

Curley takes a "leave of absence" and Schultz is going back into retirement after an emergency board of trustees meeting aimed at likely forcing them out. At least someone there is thinking.

Re: Sandusky/Penn State scandal

I believe Scott Paterno should be disbarred based upon his utter mis-understanding of our legal system:
"Unfortunately," Scott Paterno said, "once that happened, there was really nothing more Joe felt he could do because he did not witness the event. You can't call the police and say, 'Somebody tells me they saw somebody else do something.' That's hearsay. Police don't take reports in that manner. Frankly, from the way he understood the process, he passed the information on to the appropriate university official and they said they were taking care of it. That's really all he could do."

Re: Sandusky/Penn State scandal

Some thoughts....

Did PA law change (specifically who to report child abuse to) between 2002 and 2009? Ditto for Penn State policy? IF Sandusky actually did what the indictment said he did, there is not a prison deep (or safe) enough for him.

I think JoPa should resign because he IS the football program there and even if he did what he was supposed to do, the events happened in his building and besmirched his program and his school. He (and others) will need to be sacrificed.

Finally, how much will Penn State have to pay out in claims? If I was an ambulance chaser, I only have to look at the other big institution in PA to see that there is a lot of money in high profile abuse cases.

Re: Sandusky/Penn State scandal

Whoa... Never been confused with a liberal before. Feels kinda neat.

So it ok to walk into a shower and see a guy raping a kid, do nothing, run home and tell daddy. Then decide to tell your boss because you are afraid you'll lose your job as a football something or other... Libtard, that makes one for thinking you should take foot to *** if you come across that?!?

1). I'd bet Ronald Reagan or W. would say something right there.
2) I know I heard Michael Dukakis would appoint a commission if something similar would occur.

So old pios would think the duke is in the right!

Interesting how real world situations bring out the truth.

Old pios = Libtard. :)

Re: Sandusky/Penn State scandal

did Paterno know the police interviewed Sandusky in 1999? if he did that is ****ing.

Re: Sandusky/Penn State scandal

Saw a theory posted elsewhere that the reason PSU shuffled Sandusky off quietly in '99 (rather than throwing him out in a huff) is because he knew where some bodies were buried, figuratively speaking, in the football program.

Re: Sandusky/Penn State scandal

and in the meanwhile, the powers that be at Penn State allowed this monster to run loose.

Re: Sandusky/Penn State scandal

"Sandusky, OH changed their name today to 'hitler, oh'. Less bad press"

Re: Sandusky/Penn State scandal

Since Paterno didn't see the worst of the worst firsthand, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt in that he can only go off of what he was told. Do we know for sure the level of detail McQueary gave Paterno? Did he tell them exactly what he saw? Let's face it, what McQueary saw is at the top of the list. It all starts with what he told Paterno IMO.

let's face it, mcqueary saw sandusky in the halls how many times over the last year, season, month, week? wonder how the small talk went? "hey, you're looking good jerry. lost some weight? last time i saw you balls deep in that young kids butt you were a little heavy in the thighs.."

Re: Sandusky/Penn State scandal

This is the last program I ever expected to see embroiled in a scandal like this.

Really, would you have "expected" any program to be "embroiled in a scandal like this?" This is so far removed from the corruption we typically see, I can't imagine anyone "expecting" this to happen anywhere. Okay, Ohio State ran a used car lot for its former quarterback and an assistant coach was diddling little boys? That just doesn't compute. You're right, the Penn State reputation is so sterling that I guess it does seem like the last program where you'd see this. Except what's alleged here is a tremendously personal failure, not corruption in the program in the commonly accepted sense of the word. This business of who should have said what to whom comes later.
