Sandusky/Penn State scandal

Re: Sandusky/Penn State scandal

I read two different message boards regularly - this one, and a board for sports journalists. And the difference in tone between the two is staggering.

The other one basically asserts that Penn State in general should fry, starting with the GA for not immediately coming to the child's aid and going right through Paterno for basically not immediately personally going to the cops. Frankly, I don't agree with some of what they're saying but I had to make the observation of the difference.

The difference in tone between that board and reality is what is really staggering. (Not necessarily in this case, just in general)

Traveling with at risk youngsters you're presumably trying to help isn't a crime. In fact, it's a good thing.

oh, they were certainly "at risk"!!

Take the graduate assistant who reported Sandusky to Paterno. I've read blowhards (not here) who claimed "if it had been me, I would have gone in there and seperated the two and decked Sandusky." Right. You're a young guy, hoping to maybe get hired by the University and you stumble in to one of the best known figures on the campus engaging in this behavior. And you're just gonna run up to him and physically intervene? Not bloody likely. The kid was badly shaken up. Called his dad. His dad said let's go tell the coach. And they did. This super hero nonsense is for people who think they know what they would have done but actually have no freaking idea.

this is stupid. any human being who happened to walk into a shower (for example) and saw a dude assraping a 10 yr old kid and not done something is also on the heII express. "gonna go home and call my daddy because i don't want to hurt my chances for a job"... get the hell out of here!!

I thought libtards were supposed to be "nuanced." Things aren't black or white. Shades of grey. You're delusional if, under identical circumstances, you think would have acted any different. Either that or a fool. It's really easy to pose as a white knight, since you weren't there. The kid did the right thing. And you wouldn't have done anything differently. Nothwithstanding your libtard trolling.

We've all had a fairly productive discussion on this issue without namecalling/politics. Can we keep it that way?

Touchy, aren't we? Are you even capable of seeing the irony of b*tching about my name calling and then calling me a name in the same post?

I don't know, can we? I guess it depends on whether you think Mookie's post was "productive." I don't. Sorry.

He stated his case without saying anything about any sort of politics, nor calling any specific poster out. He stated his opinion. You may disagree with it, that's fine. That's no reason for the libtard/idiot/whatever comments.

Who called you a name?
Me?
Well stop being an a-hole, and you won't be called one.
It starts with you buddy.

tu toque. You applying for the job of USCHO school marm? Now you've done it twice. Same question, are you even capable of seeing the irony? I guess not.

Re: Sandusky/Penn State scandal

You have two people here asking you to not be a jerk in light of the situation in this thread.
Are you capable of doing it?

Why don't you shut your pie hole and I'll shut mine? Except in your case, you're on a "mission from God," aren't you? So your name calling is "different."
