RIT Tigers 2012-2013 season

Re: RIT Tigers 2012-2013 season

It was a special night promotion for breast cancer, Paint the Rink Pink night. As a result, the place was packed complete with cheerleaders, band and the St Louis Blues mascot. They have a special version of jerseys that are up for auction once they are game worn by the ladies. Great idea for a fundraiser I think other teams should try. Every jersey is bid on and one is now up to $1000!

Colgate is doing the same for Autism this weekend. The 3rd year in a row. They say they've raised over $30,000 the past 2 years.

And RIT is doing it next weekend against Syracuse, for childhood cancer. They did breast cancer a couple of years ago, and heart disease at some point as well.

Last year the Lady Tigers did the military camo jerseys, 11k raised. A week later both teams hosted the pink jersey game, raised 26k. 2011 was the black out heart disease jerseys, raised 10k. And 2010 both teams hosted the first pink jersey game and raised 25k. All the websites are still linked the the RIT athletics website. A couple of the injured women's players were wearing the pink jerseys at the men's games this weekend promoting Fridays game vs SU.

Re: RIT Tigers 2012-2013 season

Well, getting only a point on the trip to Missouri is a disappointment. Turns out RIT gave the Lady Lions their first conference series win. We've beaten a lot of teams Lindenwood hasn't and have a considerably better record; what happened? Was it the travel?

That's a little misleading. It's true that you've beaten Yale, Brown, and Sacred Heart, but the Lions haven't played any of those teams. They did win versus Penn State and RMU, and the only other common opponents you have out of conference are North Dakota and Ohio State. None of that changes your main point; RIT is a better team than Lindenwood.

Re: RIT Tigers 2012-2013 season

So, uh, just one point in the last four games. What happened to our scoring?

Re: RIT Tigers 2012-2013 season

Good sweep this weekend against the bottom team in the league... but we'll need to play much better next weekend to get a point at Mercyhurst.

Does the win and Lindenwood's sweep of RMU not clinch 3rd place for the Tigers?

It gets us at least a tie for 3rd. Syracuse and Mercyhurst have 25 and 30 points respectively, so they are not reachable with our 19 plus a max of 4 next weekend. Robert Morris and Lindenwood both sit at 15, so if either of them sweep next week, they will also be tied for 3rd. I think they either of them would get the actual 3 seed over us, because they would have more wins.

The only spots clinched so far are Mercyhurst in 1st, Syracuse in 2nd, and Penn State in 6th.

Edit: Penn State's write-up says they will be travelling to RIT or Lindenwood for Quarterfinals, so maybe the seeding in ties is based on head-to-head? Both Lindenwood and RIT would hold the tie breakers over RMU in this case. The RIT-Lindenwood Series went 1-1-2, with RIT outscoring 10-7 in the 3 games, so I am not sure if they would seed based on Goals head-to-head (RIT wins) or total wins (Lindenwood would win).

Given the schedules, a RIT - Robert Morris tie for third place is a reasonable bet. While I do not know the tie breaker format (please if someone has it, lay it on us) I think head to head records of the tying teams is the most common. This would give the nod to RIT, plus they can really remove all doubt by coming away with a tie or win this upcoming weekend. RIT has had a great season thus far, so they have it in them.

The D&C says we'll host Penn State, period. But PSU's Thank You Terry blog (http://thankyouterry.blogspot.com/) indicates that if Lindenwood sweeps Syracuse and RIT fails to get a point at Mercyhurst, Lindenwood will take the 3 seed. A Robert Morris sweep of PSU would not be enough to get RoMo the third seed, apparently, due to losing the tiebreakers to both Lindenwood and RIT.

That says to me that the first tiebreaker must be head-to-head. Since Lindenwood and RIT went 1-1-2 H2H, we go to the next tiebreaker, which is probably conference wins.

There is supposedly a photo gallery at http://www.uscho.com/photos/2013/02/15/gallery-penn-state-at-rit-wih/, but the photos don't come up for me.

What if Lindenwood sweeps Syracuse and RMU sweeps Penn State and RIT gets swept by MU, creating a three way tie at 19 points? What would the tie-breaker be then? Ususally head to head is not factored in when there are more than 2 teams tied.

Our Seniors are 3 D and 3 forwards, so hopefully there are more D recruits coming. Good to see the pickup of another goalie.

Re: RIT Tigers 2012-2013 season

I daresay it was inevitable considering we had Casidhe Kunichika dressed as the backup this weekend. Any word on Binnington's injury?

Powers &8^]

The goalie was listed as a recruit before Binnington's injury. I would think that Scott wanted a 3rd when he found out Carley was leaving after last season, but it may have been too late to get a decent goalie. It is hard to recruit someone to back up Binnington with 3 years left, and Laura with 2 I would imagine.

I have heard that she has a good concussion, but I have not heard an expected return.

Dunno about CHA, but in the ECAC HtH is the first tiebreaker, even in a multiple team tie.

I asked the CHA on twitter to post the tie breakers. Their response: "Will put it up, RIT clinched 3rd because they would own tie breakers over RMU and LIndenwood. Tigers will host Penn State"

link: https://twitter.com/CHAWomensHockey/status/303527525844410369

Link to the tie breaking procedure: http://chawomenshockey.com/tournament/tie-breaking
Tie Breaking Procedure:
1. head to head record
2. Conference wins
3. Comparison of Results against the top two teams
4. Comparison of Results against the top four teams

Edit: RIT still needs one more point (or Lindenwood to lose a point) this weekend to secure the 3rd seed. If RIT gets swept AND Lindenwood sweeps this weekend, Lindenwood would win tie breaker #2. Confirmed by CHA: "@CHAWomensHockey: They have clinched a home playoff games just not 3rd place."

That's great, thanks for digging in to that. So I guess they will either finish 3rd and face Penn State or will finish 4th and face RMU.

Another question...The quarter finals are best 2 of 3. Does the home team (3rd or 4th seed) host ALL three games?

Thanks

yes, I am certain of that. Home and Home series would be tough enough between teams like Syracuse and RMU or Mercyhurst, which is why they don't schedule them. Then add Lindenwood into the mix. Home ice is the advantage for the 3 and 4 seeds (AHA is the same way).

Yes, that's rather what I meant. That Casidhe was suited up as a goalie was merely to illustrate that we only have two on the roster.

Ouch. With concussions, it's usually impossible to set a timetable until they're symptom-free.
