RIT Tigers 2012-2013 season

Re: RIT Tigers 2012-2013 season

yes, I am certain of that. Home and Home series would be tough enough between teams like Syracuse and RMU or Mercyhurst, which is why they don't schedule them. Then add Lindenwood into the mix. Home ice is the advantage for the 3 and 4 seeds (AHA is the same way).

In the tournament, are there 2 games guaranteed for each team or is it only the semi-final winners that play the next day?

If it is like the AHA tournament (which I expect it is), the Semi-Final losers do not play in a 3rd place game.

Re: RIT Tigers 2012-2013 season

It's playoff time for the ladies. Too many rumors out there if they are 3rd or 4th. Either way they have a home series next weekend.
It will be interesting to see the game time on Friday because the men play at 7pm friday but are gone Saturday.
First D1 playoff for the team, good luck ladies.

I never looked at that and it really sucks. It will probably be a 3:00 pm start and I won't be able to make it and will probably eat my Priceline hotel as well.
Aaarrggghh!!!

I have heard 2pm Friday, 7pm Saturday, 2 or 3pm Sunday (if needed). If Lindenwood doesn't sweep Syracuse, we face Penn State. If they do, we get Lindenwood. Either way, Lindenwood is traveling to NY or PA, which really sucks - Maybe they will stay out here after their Wednesday game in Syracuse? I would assume that is happening...

Edit: just caught up on Lindenwood's thread - they bussed out here and are staying through the weekend.

If they do sweep, i thought we get RMU and Lindenwood gets Penn State.

RIT and RMU are tied with 19 points; Lindenwood has 15. They need a sweep of Syracuse to tie RIT and RMU; if they do, they own the tiebreakers over both teams and take third place; if they don't, they fall to fifth and will be on the road for the playoffs at RMU.

We are all Syracuse fans this week, though the bright side is SYR only needs a point to secure us third place, which will ensure we don't have to face 'Hurst in the semis (if we make it).

Are die-hard/true fans not gonna be there no matter what ? :D

More seriously....One of the perils of Priceline. Cannot cancel the cheap deals. Ran into the non-refundable dilemma myself during the recent snowstorm. Could not make it. They even had the roads closed state wide, but the Hotel would not give me a refund or credit. Use Priceline often enough to warrant that odd risk, so still ahead of the game overall. It's like that darn travel health insurance. Read the fine print, as collecting from those outfits can be a real challenge.

Re: RIT Tigers 2012-2013 season

RIT has confirmed that we are playing Penn State, games at 2pm Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (if needed).

Am I missing something here? I get the firming up of the game times as RIT is guaranteed hosting a series, but how can they announce Penn State as their opponent? Has a side arrangement been made that locks in the first round opponents regardless of the final standings? There is nothing on the CHA website that confirms this matchup. Pretty strange to announce your opponent when it has not been confirmed yet by the standings or by the league itself.

Edit: Just answered my own post by visiting the Penn State website. They are announcing it as well and are confirming that the CHA has made the decision.

Unfortunately work is getting in the way. If you can figure out a way for me to drive 5 hours in a 2 hour window then I am there.

Maybe that is correct, and I can see that teams have to know in advance where they are going so they may prepare. But don't use the Penn State site as the ultimate authority on things, because it also states:
The winner will play the No. 2 seed Syracuse Orange in Erie, Pa. on Friday, Mar. 8 in the CHA Semifinals hosted by Mercyhurst. The Lakers are the No. 1 seed and will face either Lindenwood or Robert Morris.
That directly conflicts with the CHA site:
(Teams will be re-seeded after First Round)

I saw that as well.

The CHA didn't make any decision. RIT is the 3rd seed even if Lindenwood sweeps the next 2 games against SU. I had the combined head to head records with the 3 teams on another thread.
This has also been confirmed on the RIT athletics website.

I think with the 3-way potential tie, they made it a "mini-conference" between the 3 teams and RIT won that 4-1-3 (11 points), while RMU is 1-6-1 (2 points) and Lindenwood is 4-2-2 (10 points).

I think you are correct. There has been lots of confusion about how the tie-breakers are applied. Even Arlan (ARM) on his USCHO.com wrap-up article was confused.

Like that's a first. The CHA has yet to announce its pairings. The fact that Lindenwood couldn't host due to it's midweek games may play a factor. They can't very well name Lindenwood the third seed and then allow sixth-seeded Penn State to host a series when finishing dead last. The whole thing is a little unconventional, but then so is the postponement to Tuesday/Wednesday on the final weekend.

Oh, well. Lace them up, drop the puck, and if what we've seen from the CHA thus far is any indication, we'll probably get some good hockey out of the deal.

It has been explained correctly I believe. All games between the (potentially) 3 tied teams are included in the first Hesd to Head tie breaker, giving RIT the third seed.

Okay. I see that the CHA site does now show RIT as the #3 seed, while the #4 and #5 are TBD. Thanks for the explanation.
