RIT Tigers 2012-2013 season

From the stats, it looks like we dominated and could have won, or at least tied. The GWG was unassisted; I assume a miscue by the defense?

In fairness to the Tigers, it could have just been Colgate realizing at the first intermission that they'd have to play up to their skill level and not down to RIT's.

Granted, Colgate showed more from the second period on. But RIT is the better team. It was more the case of them taking their foot off the gas and letting Colgate back in.

RIT has done this too many times this season.

RIT was the better team. They controlled the game and two big miscues by the D cost them this one. RIT had their chances to put this one away but let Colgate hang around and keep it close.

On the bright side, that first period was the best period I've ever seen them play. I like where this team is heading.

It is too bad the stats don't show time of possession or as in some junior hockey leagues dangerous shots because you sure can' t go by shot counts to determine who controlled the game.

I think a split is more likely. Robert Morris is too good of a team to drop four to a first-year DI program. (Yes, we're doing better than most first-year D-I programs. But we aren't there yet.)

While that seems reasonable, RMU seems to have taken a left turn in 2013 after sweeping 'Hurst to end 2012. For any fans that watch the series this weekend, I'd welcome your impressions of the Colonials and what, if anything, may be broken in their game.

I'll take the tie. It looks like (from the stats, at least) the two teams are fairly evenly matched... which is a really good sign for RIT's future.

Entertaining game to watch tonight. Very physical game with lots of character showing with RIT. Shots were even until the third when RIT pulled ahead. RMU goalie had to make a few more tough saves and was equal to the task. She did a good job of rebound control.

Vint for RMU is a force out there. She is the type of player that you hate to play against but would love on your side.

2 RIT players got hit pretty badly but both looked ok after the game which was good news.

Re: RIT Tigers 2012-2013 season

On the "bright" side, I noted a game DQ in the penalty stats for the Colonials; that means they'll be without one of their top scorers this afternoon.

Very Entertaining indeed. Up and down action throughout the whole game with great scoring chances at both ends. I think Zach will be seeing that missed empty net opportunity in the 3rd period in her sleep.
Should be another good one today.

Just checked collegehockeystats and the DQ penalty that was announced during the game has been switched to a 10min misconduct. Hopefully someone at the CHA office checks this out and switches it back.
It was one of the dirtiest hit from behind penalty's I've seen in a while. Should be at least a DQ major.

Re: RIT Tigers 2012-2013 season

It's nice to see RIT having a good first year in DI. It just shows you that the top DIII teams could compete against DI compeitition. (I know most DI fans wont agree, but it's being proven by RIT this year.)

Re: RIT Tigers 2012-2013 season

Some Googling revealed that the site used to be called src.rit.edu -- SRC standing for "Streaming Radio Club".

Who was calling the game last night? And are they calling it today as well?

Re: RIT Tigers 2012-2013 season

Not sure, but listening to it, Lindenwood sounds awfully loud at times...anyone know how many people they get at games?

It was a special night promotion for breast cancer, Paint the Rink Pink night. As a result, the place was packed complete with cheerleaders, band and the St Louis Blues mascot. They have a special version of jerseys that are up for auction once they are game worn by the ladies. Great idea for a fundraiser I think other teams should try. Every jersey is bid on and one is now up to $1000!
