>>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

...Overall, a close game but it seems, at least this season that the team likes to give up goals shortly after scoring one.

For the past 5 years, there has been at least some stretch were the tigers seem to give up goals immediately after scoring one. I am always worried during the first 45 seconds after they reset at center ice.

At some point it seems like a moral victory against Niagara would turn into an actual one.

Sucks RIT doesn't make it to the BCA. I think the season left off with some positive signs like Garbowsky, Schuler, and Ruby all stepping up. Some other thoughts about the AHA playoffs:

Gonna be a pretty empty BCA...

Looking at the box scores looks like Canisius "air forced" AFA..

Sounds like less members made it tonight.

Hard to believe the AHA all-rookie team does not have Shuler or Kuquali.

There were the same amount of RIT fans at the Saturday game. The corner crew was split into two sections on opposite ends of the rink. My understanding is that it was done on purpose by NU.

I was also very surprised not to see Schuler on the AHA all-rookie team.

RIT played a great game last night and played great the whole weekend. The Tigers outplayed Niagara in every way accept on the scoreboard. NU couldn't keep up so they tried diving and knocked the net off at every chance they could last night. Ruby played out of his mind in Saturday's game. They deserved better. I'm proud to be a Tiger Hockey fan. NU sucks!

Without RIT or Air Force, it's looking like players plus BCA employees are going to vastly out number fans at the tournament.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

NU students were ignorant. Security would not allow RIT CC to stand or say certain words. NU was allowed to stand up against the glass & when security were forced to say anything to them it was said with a smirk & they continued to stand in front of the glass. A RIT hockey alum's Dad was treated very rudely by some NU season ticket holders as well. All in all, very disappointed we had to be subjected to such abysmal behaviour by NU. I thought the CC were well-behaved, calm & very witty!

I would suggest NU students learn to cheer for their team & not make personal attacks on other fans in the stands. One kid was actually calling our fans on to fight.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

It's unfortunate that it took so long for the team to gel the way they did. I have high hopes for next year with the say some of the sophomores and freshmen really stepped up. Coach would be wise to make keep the Garbowsky-McGowen-Shuler line together. Them and Adam Mitchell and Mike Colavecchia returning as seniors could make RIT's offense very potent. I would like to see more competition on defense for time. Noyes, Kuquali, and Shumway seem solid for the most part. The other spots should have more competition to push Raibl, Descoteaux, and Brownell. Ruby should be the #1 goalie next year, but I expect Watson could get some game action early in the season.

Breakout player to watch for next year: Brian Potts. He has shown flashes of talent but seems like he gets left out of rotations. or has been hurt. I think he could be next year's Jeff Smith where all he needed was playing time.

The fact that next season will be the first in years when the Tigers can go into a season with an established #1 goalie will be huge. They are losing some key parts, but not the gutting that they took the last 2-3 years. The core that is here now will be augmented with some good recruits. a sold three year (140+ games) USHL D-man in Holland. He isn't going to put up points, but from what I've read he is a solid stay-at-home defenseman. And at 6-1 190 he has some size. There's also Perron-Fontaine a d-man putting up 0.6 pts a game from the BCHL. He's a little smaller, but looks like he's put up juniors numbers similar to Saracino. On the offensive side, there aren't any big scorers coming next year, just guys that should be steady contributors. The following year the goal scorer (Caleb Cameron) is coming. he was league MVP in the GOHL and it will be interesting to see where he plays Juniors next year, and what kind of numbers he puts up. Needless to say, I think the Tigers are in good shape for the next couple of years. Just think we get to see Schuler-Garbowski-McGowan, and Ruby for another 2 years.

Isn't it awesome when opponents feel that they have to do things like this in their own barns, just to try and take Tiger fans out of the game. I love it.....

So Mads wasn't our established #1 the past few years???

Actually, getting Canisius, Niagara and Mercyhurst is probably the best possible scenario if RIT's not going to be there. Granted, no one will bring a ton of fans, but each will at least bring a contingent. There are definitely some teams that bring close to no one, so the field could be worse. Still a year without RIT may be enough to get them to rethink the tournament. For that reason, I hope enough people show to make it worth their while. It is unfortunate the Canisius v. Niagara game is at 4pm though, as it may have been a decent draw later.

That sweep by Canisius to end the regular season does hurt, as it led to the matchup last weekend that ended RIT's season. (And, against most anyone else they probably would have advanced if they played the same way they did against Niagara.)

Ummmmm... Yeah. Thanks for reminding me that my memory sucks. :) Still, the point is we have fewer unknowns going into next season than we did this one.

I read an article on Friday that said that although Cameron has committed for the 2014/15 season Coach Wilson says he'll be in a Tigers uniform this coming fall. Here's the article:

He seems like a perfect fit for the Tigers. I'm excited!

Where you trying to say:

When Mad's was the starter, the Tigers made it to the AHA final game both years and that should help us (having Ruby as the starter) get there again next year?

Tiger fans can also attend and root against Niagara, just for kicks

I am probably rooting for Niagara and Mercyhurst to win on Friday, and Mercyhurst Saturday. I refuse to root for Canisius anywhere except the NCAA Tournament, but I want Niagara to get an at-large bid to get 2 (or even 3!) AHA schools in the tourney. RMU still has a chance, but very slim.

My hatred for Niagara has far surpassed Canisius now. Going undefeated at home... RIT still having a miserable record against them. I want them to lose so bad.

I liked this quote by Wilson the best:

“He wanted to stay one more year and be ready to move up here, but after watching him, he's more than ready,” said Wilson. “He has outgrown the league he's in.”

I hope he's right!
