>>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

Well as far as the Clarkson band this year at the Ritter, I would have been just as happy if they had refused them entry or tossed them right out of the building. They ignored rink staff, completely refused to cooperate with anyone, were rude and obnoxious to those who unfortunately happened to be seated around them and generally were a **** poor representative of their school. Not to mention with seating in the Ritter at a premium to save a majority of a section for another team's band is quite frankly a bad idea.

If you are going to allow another teams band into your rink, then they should have to cooperate with regards to who plays when, general rules of conduct, etc. Just because you are an organized group does not exempt you from basic rules and simple civility. And it does require some degree of coordination with the host in general and I would hazard a guess that a great many schools don't have the staff or want the hassle of trying to coordinate such a thing, so its just easier to say "you are welcome, but your band is not".

That is pretty typical behavior for the Clarkson band. They have been like that for as long as I can remember. It must be cultural.

I do have to disagree on not letting another schools band in. I like the additional atmosphere that visiting fans/bands bring.

Expect an announcement in the near future about an outdoor game at Frontier Field.

Ugh. I simply cannot understand what the current fascination is with freezing your butt off watching a game outside. If I wanted to do that again, I would go to a Hobart game.

"Rumor" has it our opponent will be Niagara. I wish we'd stop bringing in teams we can't beat for special events!

With how cold Stu had Ritter this season, I'm not sure we'd notice a difference!

I heard this too, and a date - I just didn't want to ruin the surprise :p

Not cool, RIT. Not cool.

Sounds like they were well behaved. I'm actually shocked that this year (and I think last year as well), they didn't play during the course of the game.

Kudos to Chris Seracino for making the AHA All-Confernece team - the only Tiger to make it.

Maybe I just never noticed before, but if the AHA were to ever field their All-Conference team in a game, they would be immediately whistled for too many men on the ice. Have they always had 3 defensemen on the team? Seems kind of odd. There's no way of knowing which of the three was the "third" who should actually be on the second team (I think they were listed alphabetically putting Saracino last), but really shouldn't there only be 3 forwards, 2 defensemen and 1 goaltender on an all-star team?

It's not that RIT "can't" beat NU, in most of the games they've been perfectly capable of beating them. They just haven't (save for that one time).

For the most part up until this season, they have invited teams they could beat to the Brick City game.
Penn State in 2012 was a brand new team that should have been beatable (at least at Buff State the night before they were).
Obviously, St. Lawrence was beatable in 2011 even though it took a wild finish.
Lowell was definitely beatable in 2010, the Tigers just choked a bit at the end.
Colgate in 2009 was better, but not overwhelmingly. They only beat RIT by 1 after all.

Now that's not to say anything about the Tigers' next two Brick City opponents... different story.
Certainly RIT proved UM to be beatable, but what are the odds the Wolverines will have two horrible regular season starts in a row against the same opponent?
I'm looking forward to the BC game, but primarily for the excitement level of having the NCAA's most dominant program of the recent past coming to town. An upset there would be huge, and of course very highly unlikely.

I hadn't noticed it being significantly colder in there this season. It's pretty much always been cold in there by my account... especially at the zamboni end.

This has happened in the past. When there is a tie in votes, they award both players.

An outside game would be OK, but is there any thoughts about a four team tournament to open the season at the Blue Cross?

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

I think I'll watch an outside game ... on TV. Unless it is a big-time opponent or in a big-time stadium (we don't have one in Rochester) that can sell out, I don't see the point. I could stand outside my house to get cold and look through a window at the TV and still have a better hockey experience.

Now Michigan and BC in a sold out BCA ... that's hockey! How about some speculation about who comes to Brick City the year after BC? And speaking of Clarkson (and their band that seems typical of the place to me! ;)) aren't they the ones coming for the first game in Polisseni? It seems RIT might have done better on that as well ... say RPI, or even Union, or Cornell, or even Colgate. I guess we'll get to see how their band behaves then.

There's a joint press conference that was announced late this afternoon with RIT, the Amerks and the county executive at Frontier Field tomorrow at 10 a.m.

We had that info earlier this year on a radio broadcast. 2015 will be Bowling Green.

That's right, I forgot. Thanks. Shall we begin the speculation for 2016?? How about Maine? Or Vermont?

So much for law school, eh?

How does playing ECHL hockey in March have any impact on Saracino's entry into law school next fall?

I am so unexcited about *another* outside hockey game. There have been more than enough of them to make the idea old by now.

It doesn't. Congrats to Chris for playing in the ECHL before heading off to law school. BTW, he is +2 after the first period tonight.:D
