>>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

I have seen dozens and dozens of roundabouts (I used to spend significant time in the UK for work), and I have never, ever, ever seen one blocked to traffic the way the one at RIT is during events.

I thought they just prevented traffic in the roundabout from going east on Andrews past D-lot when it's emptying.

They block it before games by 6pm as well. The only time I have ever seen a circle blocked is for construction, with a ****load of signs to let you know that well in advance. I actually called campus safety the first time I saw it a couple of years ago because I thought it was a prank that some student had done. I figured there was no way someone would be stupid enough to actually do it on purpose.

That does seem odd; why before games? After games, it makes sense; they're trying to get D-lot clear and can't do that if traffic's coming around on Andrews. (Or, traffic in the roundabout would back up if it was blocked at the D-lot exit, which would be even worse.) But before?

Once D Lot is full, they block access in that direction from the roundabout. Sometimes the lot is full by 5 p.m., like on Saturday with the cheerleading event.

My biggest issue is once the security people decide the lot is full that's it. Noone gets in even if you point out several visible open spots and all the cars emptying out of the lot. I'm okay with them trying to control the flow of traffic in and out of D lot; it's needed with all the activities that happen, but if the lot is emptying they should let new people in to fill those empty spots. They typically don't reopen the lot until right around game time when you can't get a seat at the rink. It's also super annoying getting a ticket when you park in the lot they direct you to. I can definitely see how this might keep a casual hockey goer from attending the games.

I've always parked in U lot even before they promoted it. Glad I have cause it seems a lot easier even though my walk is a little farther now :)

I used to park in U lot because it was much easier, but now it's quite a hike.

I asked security about parking in D lot last Saturday... I'm one of the crazy people that arrives very early for the hockey games. I was told that I could park in D lot, but would have to use the west entrance to the lot. There weren't many spaces available due to the cheer-leading thing but I was able to find a good spot.

A large group of friends and myself, 15-20 students in total, will be travelling to Dwyer Arena this Friday for the game. I hope many of you (those who can) make your way out to Niagara to help support our first AHA Playoff game away from home at the rink where no one can seem to win except for the Purple Fairies. We got out of the ridiculous $17 ticket prices for being in a party of more than 10 ($5 tickets!! Woo!). Come on guys, it's not that far! We can only help the team by being there! Let's knock 'em out in their own barn.

If I am reading this correctly ...

3 tix x $17 = $51

10 tix x $5 = $50

So any group of 3 or more RIT fans should purchase the 10 tickets. Who cares if it leaves 7 seats empty that might have held Niagara fans. (I'm sure there's some catch besides the math.)

The group rate is $10 per ticket for a group of 10 or more. But still any group of 6 or more will benefit: 17x6=102

$5 tickets are for reserved seating (center ice sections) and $10 for GA (end of ice) seating.

All the seats are assigned, there is no GA. The difference in ticket price is in regard to the type of seat - chair back seats are more expensive ($17) than non chair back seats. I believe the chair back seats are all located in the center ice sections and the ends are all non chair back seats.

I do know that I bought tickets at the group rate in the chair back section(at center ice) and paid $10 each, regular price $17 each. I don't have info about the group rate for the non-chair back section - maybe those are $5 each.

ETA: chair back seats are located at center ice. Regular price is $17 for adults, group rate (10 or more tickets) is $10 each.

General Reserved seats are located on the ends and are $12 each regular price or $5 at the group rate (10 or more tickets).

It is a bit confusing but if you look at the seating chart right under
"Dwyer Arena Seating Map" it says chairback Reserved 4-6. Those are the center ice sections. The areas marker GA used to be general admission but they changed that this year, there is no GA. I guess they were too lazy to change up the seating chart to reflect the change.

They need an actual person there and not a sawhorse. A person could monitor the flow and, you know, employing the lost art of directing traffic. They save $50 or so and make a mess of things instead.
