>>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

I know he was concerned about making sure that the athletics were never above the academics. And I believe while he was president, he was dragged in kicking and screaming for hockey to go DI.

Yep, I believe some trustees had a "discussion" with him in a dark alley. Just a few months before the announcement, he stated that it was never going to happen. (He also said semester conversion would happen under the next president ... one out of two ain't bad.)

The wacky Atlantic Hockey season continues tonight ...UNCONN-4 Bentley-0 after 1st, interesting to see how Bentley comes out in the 2nd after losing last night to UCONN. The season really is going to come down to the last week for just about everybody except Niagara.

Hint: They did not come out strong.

9-0 final

I listened to the Bentley radio guy call the 3rd period...painful for those guys, he signed off immediately, said he had nothing else to say. They got Army next who also played poorly this weekend, fortunes for one of those two teams will be changing next weekend, impossible to know which one though.

Nonetheless we can't worry about them, Mercyhurst next, six games left, what do you think is a reasonable expectation of points over these last six games? Would love to see 10 points but would 6 keep us out of that bottom four? 8?

I think they need at least 8 to avoid the bottom 4. It may come down to sweeping Canisius.

Six games ... sadly I see no more than six points. I hope I am wrong. Bottom four might be more likely than not.

My optimistic projection would be 2 from Mercyhurst, 2 from Air Force, and 4 from Canisius for 8.

My realistic projection is more like 6-7, with an Air Force sweep of us seeming likely.

Any contemporary evidence of this unlikely fact?

My optimistic projection is 10. We always play well in Erie.

Prior to this season, RIT "always" played well at Ritter Arena, too.
4-5-2 thus far in 2012-13.

Well, yes, but we're being optimistic here.

How dare you say something even remotely optimistic on this thread?!!??:p:eek:;)

Yes it is unlikely and yes it is a fact, so I am glad to see we agree 100% here.

He told me personally and he also wrote a very detailed letter about it (In fact he did that on two separate occasions.)
I've discussed it with several that are part of the program and none doubted me in the least.

The "dark alley" was me embellishing a little bit (go ahead, give me 2 min.), but the essence is correct although I only have a lot of second-hand accounts on that one.

And while we are quibbling on facts, RIT didn't "always" play well in the Ritter. I'll accept usually.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

Given our home record this year at the Ritter is not great and it can also be said that the BCA is "kind of" like our home ice, pumpkin patch comments, corner crew, band, etc., does it matter all that much that we go on the road for the first two rounds (assuming we win both rounds?) :D

Except for no games at the Ritter, the team travels exceptionally well with good RIT crowds in most of the AHA rinks. Now if the school could arrange travel for the band we'd be okay....and what a homecoming it would be to come back to Rochester and play at the BCA. I'm getting ahead of myself...optimistic is the word.

Well that's well and good, but it's still hearsay. Was it specifically moving the hockey team that he said would never happen, or moving the entire athletic department to DI? And what changed his mind, if not the aforementioned dark alley?

Please, Please, Please, someone with the power to do so pull off something like this at the Air Force or Canisius games.

Sometimes I hate being out of state.

Hearsay for you (unless I show you the letter or give sworn testimony), but not hearsay for me. Look it up. And at the risk of being redundant again, yes, the trustees convinced him (that is hearsay as I wasn't in the room and I don't recall if either he or any of the trustees told me directly, but I trust my sources).

Yes it was specifically about moving the hockey team and only the hockey team. The reversal in plans happened very quickly.

Would you care to provide any evidence to the contrary?
