Couldn't win the 3rd period..that's that, we're gonna have a tough road the rest of the way with this western pod...

Hey look, another disappointing Friday night effort.

I'm expecting the boys to say all the right things on Twitter tomorrow afternoon, then win big on Saturday night.

Maybe this team is predictable afterall.

In other news, look what Colgate's doing ...

http://www.uscho.com/2013/02/08/colgate-eyeing-new-37-8-million-on-campus-rink/

Still not formally approved and certainly not widely talked about and they have almost $21M of donations in hand. Their trustees just approved pulling the trigger when the donations get to $25M. That's a successful campaign. Being outdone by Penn State is one thing, but RIT should be able to do at least as well as Colgate given relative sizes, etc.

RIT spent too many years not caring about student life and thus have a disgruntled alumni base. Glad that it's better now.

Seems Colgate is wise too by waiting until they had over 1/2 of the cost in the bank before pulling the trigger. Makes raising the rest that much easier.

Here's hoping for a better offensive game tonight and a D that doesn't make the mistakes of last night. And oh yeah, it was still snowing in Erie last night.

With around 3X the living alumni (maybe more), RIT alumni must be 3X more disgruntled than Colgate alumni in terms of giving!

OK, that's feasible!

Except that they also received significantly more toward the arena ... assuming equal quality of fundraising programs, that would make RIT alumni about 9X more disgruntled.

I think my assumption is incorrect. ;)

9x sounds about right. Back in the day RIT didn't give a crap about student life. I honestly think Destler is the best thing that ever happened to RIT.

I remember days where the hockey players walked around the dorms giving away tickets to their tournament.

Great battle back win tonight. Ruby with another solid weekend and nice to see the guys dig deep in the third and find a way to win. That's the fire I've been looking for out of these guys.

Good win, getting to be a trend (good performance after bad/flat performance) need to figure out a way to come out on Friday night and play like we did in the 3rd period tonight and put together a couple of 3 or 4 point weekends over the course of the next few weeks.

History is long. I think Destler has a very long way to go to catch up with Mark Ellingson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_W._Ellingson).

When I was a student there was plenty of student life including many free events with free beer flowing. I wonder if the true dark days of student life at RIT are the period right after the drinking age went up to 21 as well as right after the move to Henrietta (there were some real rough times for students then). Whatever it was, there is no question there has been a steady improvement since the mid-1990s or so. Destler has done a lot, but I'm not ready to give him all the credit.

Oh, and great comeback win last night. I'm baffled by the Jekyll and Hyde weekends. I hope Hyde wins before the playoffs.

Yup, I vote for Hyde too! :)

So clearly in the makup games we need to root for AIC and Sacred Heart. The Bentley-UConn series winner will be ahead of RIT in the standings. Best case for RIT would be a split.

Well AIC did their part today, beating Army 3-0. Just back from the game and since the last time I was there Army added a huge flat screen behind the south goal, (I hope the netting is strong). Other than being powered on, it wasn't operational yet but I'm looking forward to real time statistics, scores from other games and replays like at other rinks. For Ed.... they added another press box too, to the left of the existing one.

Saturday's game was very dull until the 3rd. I almost turned off the radio during the 2nd period. RIT wasn't doing anything other getting penalties.

You think it was dull on the radio? You should have been in the rink.

It looked almost identical to the 2nd and 3rd periods on Friday, until about halfway through the second on Saturday. That first goal woke them up, and then in the third they came out and it was like a totally different team. Passes and shots were magically making it through instead of bouncing off of defenders, 50-50 tossup-type battles along the boards started to go RIT's way, and RIT started to get in the way of RoMo passes.

I actually thought RIT played well in the neutral zone all weekend. But RoMo's transition game is very fast, and they swarm the puck in all zones. RIT would get a stick on the puck and there'd immediately be three or four guys in white standing in front of him. RoMo looked like they had something to prove after Tuesday's blowout.

I'm just glad we started to get some bounces; when the bounces go against us, the guys get down and start trying too hard to make something happen. When they start going for us, the team is quickly energized and more good things result. I think it's just a resilience issue -- on Friday, we played really well in the first but ended up scoreless; that got them discouraged and gripping the sticks too hard, allowing RoMo to control the second. And it took until halfway through the second game for that to turn back around.

No, that would be Mark Ellingson, and even then only if we're talking about Presidential terms.

Destler has certainly done a heck of a job with school spirit, and alumni outreach. But it was Al Simone who got the ball rolling with the D-I move. That one move has been more successful than I ever imagined it could be.

If I'm not mistaken wasn't Simone against college sports and athletics as a whole (including the NCAA)?

I know he was concerned about making sure that the athletics were never above the academics. And I believe while he was president, he was dragged in kicking and screaming for hockey to go DI.
