>>> RIT Tigers 2011-12 -- Now then, where were we? <<<

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2011-12 -- Now then, where were we? <<<

Well, Elmira and Amherst did us some favors this week. Back on top! But we still need to sweep Elmira to host the ECAC West tourney.

Well Platty is probably in the best position to win ECAC West and home ice, having taken 5 of 8 points from Elmira/RIT, and that heavy lifting out of the way. An Elmira/RIT split would suit Platty just fine. Actually with said split, Elmira would be ahead of RIT as well.

They way it looks, Platty takes one of the top two spots and a bye no matter how RIT and Elmira fare against each other. A RIT/Elmira split would give the other top two spot to the Eagles. So RIT needs to sweep to gain a top spot, cause with 3 of 4 points from Elmira, they would still lose the HTH tiebreaker to Platty.

Buff St and Oswego will have a say in the final standings. Both have won games against these teams. It is not clear cut who lands where just yet.

Monsieur OneTimer, où le personnel d'encadrement êtes-vous? Vos connaissances à l'intérieur ne peut pas être simplement d'un parent ou titulaire de billets de saison.

Ok then genius. Care to explain the serious accusations put in front of you by 5-4 this morning? It clearly was factual. No one would make up that sort of thing, and you didn't care to defend your actions, you only tried to change the subject. You arranged to have the posts removed out of fear. You look guilty, and I believe anyone else that saw the posts this morning would agree. You need to get some help. Spare me any gutless reply. We have heard them all before. PS.....And don't forget my back pocket; it's all recorded.
:D Your back pocket!!! Cue frightening musical score. I'll certainly remember...

Perhaps you intended to post this in a parallel universe where you're actually considered a very scary, intimidating guy, rather than a complete joke as in this universe. :)

Ok what the hell did I miss yesterday? I hate not having a computer unless I'm at work.

Much ado about nothing. Certainly not anyhing pertaining to this thread.!

4:21 AM? Yikes, pretty much sums you up. The joke has always been in your hands, evidently. :) What do you think about RIT being #1 again. Looks like a great battle down the stretch in their division.

What does the 4:21 AM time stamp tell you about me? "The joke has always been in my hands, evidently." What do you mean by that?

Did you pull this stuff out of your scary, frightening back pocket?

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2011-12 -- Now then, where were we? <<<

Boy, do I love to sweep Elmira. There may not be many more chances left to do that, but it's always felt good.

Now we just gotta stay on course and play some Tiger hockey... if we play the way we did against Elmira, the sky's the limit.

The comments from the lawyer in that article, those come from an attorney WHO WAS AN OFFICIAL HIMSELF!!!

Goes to show you how some of these lawyers will do ANYTHING to win their case, whether in front of a judge, a jury, or in the public realm...

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2011-12 -- Now then, where were we? <<<

It is an interesting defense, though. You never see players of any other sport getting arrested or charged after injuring people at sporting events. Montreal's thought of charging Chara for that hit last year was nearly universally lambasted and looked down upon. Obviously this is lower profile, but how is it any different in reality?

That is not quite true. There have been several high profile cases in the past from the NHL. The Bertuzzi case and the McSorley case being the most memorable ones. There was also a serious stick swinging incident involving an NHL enforcer in the minors pro leagues, in the lockout year that went to court.

Betuzzi was well above and beyond anything that should happen in hockey, period.

I also think there is a difference in hitting people in the course of a game, as part of body checking/body contact, versus fighting and fistacups. Sucker punching someone during a shinny game/beer league game should be unacceptable. I'm pretty sure that fist fights at basketball games also lead to court cases. And then there is soccer. There have been plenty of soccer on the field shenanigans that led to charges at the minor levels over in Europe.

In our neck of the woods, there was a case from minor midget hockey a few years back. It involved one brother standing up for another, during a play-off game, that led to a fight. During the melee, one puch hit a linesman that tried to break up the fight, and he hit the ice hard. It led to a lengthy court case. The two brothers in question, 16 at the time, were banned for life from minor hockey. Not sure how the court charges were settled. There was another case in the Niagara, Ontario area, involving a 20 year female player. She got into a fight and/or did something to another player during a game. This went to court as well, with a punishment attached to it.

Two points:
1 - Plenty of past examples, not all high profile
2 - Being in a heated game should not give a person excuse for a full on assault, specially with a weapon, like a pair of soccer cleats or a stick. That is beyond the parameters of a game.

Okay, there are exceptions. But people get punched in the face during games of hockey at all levels all the time..

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2011-12 -- Now then, where were we? <<<

It's important to make a distinction between what happens in a professional or upper level amateur hockey game and what goes on (or should go on) in a men's C/D non check beer league at the local rink. There is a world of difference.

The fact of the matter is that there was NO EXCUSE for what Coach McDonald did. None. Everyone here seems to have their orange tinted sunglasses on when it comes to viewing this situation. He sucker punched a guy 100 feet away from the play in a freakin' beer league game because he felt the guy was cherry picking late in a blowout. Sure, I am sure they exchanged some words, maybe a slash or jab here or there, but there is NO EXCUSE for his actions. NONE. It is behavior that is completely unacceptable for someone in his position.

He is fortunate that the school tried to sweep this matter quickly under the rug, hoping that no one would notice or that the matter would quickly pass without the victim deciding to file criminal charges. A 1 game suspension, for a game against a team that quite frankly is probably the worst team in women's hockey was hardly sufficient punishment for these actions. AD Spiotti and President Destler had a chance to send a real message to the community about the standards and expectations RIT has of its coaches and student athletes and quite frankly they dropped the ball. You can bet your last dollar that if this was a student athlete involved in an altercation, he would have been suspended and punished in a much more severe fashion. Hell, players have gotten more of a punishment for curfew violations than what he got for ASSAULTING a person, and getting hauled out of an arena in handcuffs in a sheriff's car.

At a time when RIT is trying to make deeper in-roads to the community at large and grow the RIT brand and promote the RIT hockey program, trying to raise funds from the community for a new arena and on the verge of taking the Women's program to DI, this is not the type of attention the school needs and they in some was have become their own worst enemy with the joke of a punishment handed to Coach McDonald.

Well written, and I could not agree more. How can this team or school look at him with respect....I doubt they can.
