I think they gotta get a loss out of the way at some point in the regular season so it doesn't haunt them in the playoffs. Undefeated is not a mark I want painted, even if it would be cool.
How come? I think they've had enough experience the past couple years to go undefeated.
Even though I predicted one of RIT or River Falls going unbeaten in the regular season, RIT still has four very tough games left. Two on the road at Elmira, where they have never had much luck and then two at home vs. Plattsburgh.
RIT has been the odd team out of this triumvirant the last three seasons, will this be the year they break it? Possibily, they haven't had a goalie like Chamberlain or an offense as stacked as this one is during that time.
I think the ladies will split with both Elmira and Platty. Elmira is a good second half team and Platty is just a perennial powerhouse.

I don't put much stock in a team's name, I'll give them some credit for their program but when it comes down to it all that matters is whether or not they are good this year. Elmira has done ok, the start of the season didn't inspire much confidence for me. Plattsburgh has done considerably better. But I'm not sure what happened with the tie vs Amherst, we whipped them so I'm not sure why Plattsburgh, should they be able to beat us, would tie Amherst. Amherst hasn't really made much noise this year.

And the rest of the Division III hockey said the same thing when RIT tied Neumann last year
C'mon, Mania, you're better than this. You know that Plattsburgh and Elmira are always going to be tough games regardless of outcomes against other opponents.
I guess it's easy to say no team scares you when you're unbeaten, but hopefully it's not getting to the team's head as much as it has yours.
Amherst maybe hasn't made much noise, but as Derek points out, they always come around in the second half. I'm wondering why you're more caught up in that than the Plattsburgh loss to Elmira. The way I see, the games in two weeks determine the host for ECACs. I would worry about in-conference games right now. But that's just my 2 cents.
If they lose in the West playoffs, they no longer host any NCAA and I am sure that would deal a blow to their emotions.
Not true. If RIT runs the table in the regular season and then lost in the playoffs, they would still host the NCAA's. Guaranteed.
Even if it were semis? Thereby (essentially) automatically taking away an at-large from the ECACW runner-up, nevermind the hosting rights. It's not like there's precedent for a team running the table then losing in semis and still hosting. I could see them getting an at-large still, but hosting wouldn't seem logical. Running the table means running the table when it matters most, not just reg. season.
Maybe not semis, but as long as RIT is the top-seed, I don't see them losing in the semis.
But still, think about it.
A 25-1-0 RIT team means Elmira would have at least six losses and Plattsburgh would have at least three losses.
Amherst has four losses at cannot host the Frozen Four even if they were undefeated I've been told. Orr Rink doesn't meet requirements.
Norwich has three losses with games against Manhattanville, Plattsburgh, and Middlebury left.
Manhattanville has four losses and Middlebury has two losses already with two games against Amherst and another with Trinity left as well as one with Norwich.
Tell me how RIT doesn't host in that situation?
If River Falls wipes the table with the NCHA
Although, if that were the case, we could see an RIT host with a Tigers quarterfinal game and Ritter hosting the final four with River Falls as the top seed.
How come? I think they've had enough experience the past couple years to go undefeated.
Remember what happened the last time an RIT team was undefeated heading into a national championship game?
Or heck, what happened to the New England Patriots when they were undefeated going into the Super Bowl?
A championship is enough to have at stake in those situations without the added pressure of a perfect season weighing heavily.
