>>>>RIT Tigers 2010-2011<<<<

Re: >>>>RIT Tigers 2010-2011<<<<

since platty was idle, i'm hoping rit did enough to jump them and be number 1 in the nation. I believe this is a 1st in school history so it should be interesting to see how the polls look this upcoming week.

Just remember it can be a burden being #1 and having that target on the back of your sweater. It makes it that much easier for every team to get up for their game with you. Taking points from you can become the defining moment in an also ran team's season (last season it was for the White Mules).
Just the same, I think you deserve to be #1! Enjoy the moment, your team has earned it.

i agree on your sentiments.. i also would prefer to be number 1 in april rather than now as it means we won a title. Either way, being number 1 is a great accomplishment that I hope RIT does something to recognize it, if we obtain that ranking. Obviously, I'm putting the cart before the horse but I'm excited about our women's team doing very well at this point.

Agreed.....it would have been great to see these two good teams play later in the year when Amherst had more ice time. That being said RIT seems to have it's offense humming well and they seem to have found a goalie, which was their weakness in years past. They still need to bolster their Defense as they gave up almost 70 shots in two games. While their goalie played well, you cannot count on that week after week, especially with everyone gunning for you as #1.

Scotty is obviously a charmer. ;)

I think the option of being able to come in as a Freshman and be the starting goaltender for a team that may potentially go D1 during her tenure here, is a great option. Much better than a backup job on a D1 team if that was her other option. Who knows, maybe she wins a D3 championship as a Freshman? It could happen.

I knew she was good from what I'd observed before hand, and Scotty hyping her, but it was nice to see her in her element against a good team. The glove save she made in the 3rd while in the splits was pro material. I've been taking notes to work on my own game :o

I think the most important thing about having Laura in net is that it brings confidence to the rest of the team. They don't have to worry about bailing her out and that lets them take chances, knowing that she can come up with a big save if she has to. That's crucial and something this team has not had in the time I've been watching them.

Tomorrow should be a great tilt. Go Tigers!

Re: >>>>RIT Tigers 2010-2011<<<<

The 70 shots against were semi-misleading. Amherst had nine on a first period power-play on Saturday, and most of the shots came from the perimeter, where Chamberlain had no problem gobbling them up. RIT had several more grade A chances, as they were trying to get more from in tight. All seven goals came from in tight and were the product of some pretty passing plays. They have three #1 lines right now, as evidenced by the their stats. Every game, a different line steps up.

Not to mention the freshmen. Reminds me of the men's class of '08, who were freshmen when the D-I announcement was made (Lambert, Smith, Walton, Draper, Patry), except these girls are contributing even more than the guys did as freshmen. Kunichika, McCrea, Zach, and of course Chamberlain are the kinds of players that can provide a foundation for a lot of success in the immediate future. It's going to be scary to see how good they are in 2013. =)

If I'm adding the years the right way, that was McDonalds first recruiting class when he was the assistant coach with Coach Wilson.

Tigers travel to ye olde sage rink Friday to take on Hamilton. Both teams coming off great weekends, both teams have sensational young goaltending, how long do you think this game stays interesting?

Which part.

I think it will be closer than most of our in conference games this season, but I don't know enough about Hamilton to say anything more haha Hopefully it'll be a good, clean game. I've been happy with the discipline the last few weekends against Amherst and Neumann. Both class act coaches and teams. The games are just more fun when you can watch and appreciate the talent on both sides of the puck.

RIT wins though. Gotta keep that streak alive.

Boy, #1 team in the country, new rink on the way, possible move to D-I... you'd think we'd have more to talk about.

What's to say? Unbeaten going into winter break. I have no complaints. And complaints are what keeps a thread alive. :p I just do most of my discussing outside of the board to be honest.

Re: >>>>RIT Tigers 2010-2011<<<<

I do want to say that the second half of the season is going to be considerably more difficult. Plattsburgh might yet be a better team than RIT this year, and Elmira has shown tonight that they're back in form after an uncharacteristic start.

RIT is going to have to play their hearts out or they might still end up on the outside looking in come March.

I'm looking forward to seeing our girls get challenged. The games are a lot more fun when they're close. And they gotta lose at least one game or else karma is going to bite back in the playoffs.

Re: >>>>RIT Tigers 2010-2011<<<<

This weekend could give them some problems but I have faith they can pull out the win.
