I think it's from hanging around the MTU @ tUMD thread. ;)

She is lucky if a cold is all she gets from that thread!

Scarlet - zinc. The only thing clinically shown to reduce severity and length of a cold. Take it right now and often till a couple days after you are better. Ziacam is a popular brand of it, but store brands at CVS, etc. work too.

It's Thursday. A trip to see hottie bartender ought to take care of that! ;)

I'm already planning to bolt outta here at 4:50. :) Wasn't going to get my usual martini but I've since rethunk that as it does have orange juice in it. That's good for colds, right?

goldy - I have Zicam at home. Used it last month. Worked great. I need to get another bottle as my brother used a lot of it when he was home. I'll try to stop at Walgreen's on the way home.

I can agree with the AVG turned to crap. I think it's dragging my laptop down... you recommend Avast! as a replacement for it? Does the same real time (half-assed) monitoring and full disk scans that AVG offered?

And I had to switch to Safari for a bit on my laptop. Firefox was a resource hog (I think there's either a memory leak with Explorer or something physically wrong with the RAM)... and Safari acted a bit better. *edit* And it's not an NMU IBM... but a similar IBM model t43. Got it second hand from one of my last employers when they were pitching a bunch of "crap" computers.

I doubt it's your RAM or Explorer, or at least not only that issue. Firefox used to be awesome, around v.2 or so, but it's become the biggest memory dump on my computer. Safari or Chrome might be in my future.

Been using Chrome for the past 1.5 years or maybe a bit more. Moved to it soon after it came out. Love it, it doesn't seem to bog anything down for me at all.

Hm, doing a quick entry on TurboTax shows me getting back 1700+ from the Feds, but paying 1800+ to state. Expected to have to pay, but mildly surprised at how little overall. I still need to enter my W2 from working at school, hopefully it is at home, and then do some deductions on sales tax for my car and other major expenses. Might be able to deduct some other things as well if I'm lucky and find some. Going to be my first year doing these bad boys myself.

I've used Chrome both on a Mac and a PC. I think it works fantastically. I've tried Safari, it's just meh for me.

Hyperbole much?

One's nearly impossible to miss if you're in downtown St. Paul, and the other is a mythic figure and a giant ****ing statue.

Need I remind you that when I looked up the locations, you didn't even know there was one right smack in the middle of downtown Minneapolis? That illustrates just how easily overlooked it is.
While I'm surprised that you'd never heard of Broadway Pizza, I'm not a big fan of it. I much prefer Davanni's for my local pizza shop.

Davanni's for thick crust. For thin, Broadway is the way to go. If you order thick at Broadway, the terrorists win. At the Plymouth location, even the workers were embarrassed that (at the time) they didn't serve Premo. Broadway and a Premo is like America and apple pie. :)

Davanni's is decent for Chicago style, albeit a bit on the greasy side.

The best thin crust pizza I've ever had has to be Dave's/Keith's in Bemidji.

Genealogy is fun. One finds all kinds in one's tree. An apparent seventh cousin once removed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catherine_Yronwode. Then again, her daughter Althaea Yronwode, who would be an eighth cousin, is a surgeon.

It is fun. My uncle was able to find a number of distant cousins (I think anywhere from 3rd-6th) in North Carolina who had changed their last name around World War I. At that time, it "wasn't cool" to have a German last name in the USA (no chance at a thrown-in umlaut BTW), so many of my ancestors had taken a different last name for that time. Those distant cousins just happened to not change back.
These made me think of the funniest thing that happened at the dinner table this week. FIL is here. Lil asks if we have a relation named x. Papa says yes and asks why. Lil looks stricken. Head goes into the tshirt neck hole (imagine a turtle into a shell). After some pressing it is revealed that the current love interest is a descendant of x. Then papa says x had a girl who, he thinks, they adopted. Out pops the head- Oh, we're all good then. I almost bust a gut laughing. Had to explain that the ban on cousins did not extend to ones that are 8 times removed.

Just started digging for dead people again after getting my gr-gr-grandfather's trunk with some of his tools in it. Trying to find any relatives that might be interested.

That sounds an awful lot like one of the main story lines of Arrested Development.
