Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 143: A Golden ;) Oldie

I quit bothering with firewalls and that crap years ago - just like the airport security zone, it's all a big show to a home user. If hackers want into your system, ZoneAlarm and Symantec's "Norton" bloatware garbage aren't going to stop them unless they truly have no idea what they're doing. Plus, as Brent's experience shows, such programs are also way too stupid, and frequently flag legitimate traffic.

This. And as long as you're smart and take the "if it sounds suspicious, don't click on it" approach, it's pretty hard to get a virus. Haven't had an antivirus installed on my current laptop since I got it 4 years ago.

Hi Lodge. Fun day in the bake shop; made my first pumpkin pie and my first scone today.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 143: A Golden ;) Oldie

I am disturbed by something I learned tonight. Bakunin, aka The Commie, has never tried nor heard of Broadway Pizza.

Minnesotans, please have a moment of silence before you get the noose. Thank you.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 143: A Golden ;) Oldie

A) I've never seen an ad or flyer of any kind for that place.
B) Nobody at any point has ever mentioned the place to me and said "you need to try this ****ing awesome pizza" (until now).
C) I've never driven past one/seen one.

As usual, Brent's outrage is severely misplaced.

Long night... lots of dodgeball, some TV cameras, quite a bit of TV cameras, a bit of cornhole, some Jenga, etc. Interesting night. I'm getting next season for free so that should save me some $$$.

Sterling Heights is where my in-laws live.
And, last I knew, so does RobGreen.

I'd almost be interested but, I've got something in the works that I need to let play out. Besides, I'm guessing BPH needs the job more than I do at this point.
And we'll trade you for BPH. No offense, BPH, but she's MEL!

Hey now!

:p

I have a few things in the works too, and that sounds more up Mel's alley. We'll see what happens there.

You lack basic logic.

And you lack basic knowledge of Minnesota.

I usually stop by the Richfield location and pick up a pizza on my trips up into the cities.

Does the Plymouth location deliver to your place or are you to far away?

As another example the the universe hating me, somehow between leaving work and getting home my laptop computer screen was cracked.

How you wrote it:

How I read it:

I had this vision of you doing high-fives after completing your pumpkin pie.
Actually, I did do a little dance after my pie came out of the oven. The night before, I made my first chocolate cream pie that came out a bit too salty, so I was in the mood to celebrate after it was done!

And good morning, Lodge. I haven't been to bed yet.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 143: A Golden ;) Oldie

Morning!

What are these?
I use NoScript with Firefox. It's an add-on that blocks all scripts from running, and you can either permanently or temporarily allow a sites scripts, or you can also permanently reject them. Once you've gone through the sites you visit most and allowed them through, it works pretty sweet.

Added bonus, it blocks 99% of advertisements. :D

Hosts file is just a text file on your local PC that you can add addresses to in order to block sites and traffic. You can find a long list of advertising web addresses to add to it that basically turn off ads from every site.
