Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 117: It's The Dog Days of Summer

So, I need a general opinion of the politeness of something.

Person A: Why didn't you clean the bathrooms like you were supposed to?
Person B: Sorry, I was at work all day.
Person A: Well why didn't you do them last night?
Person B: I went home, because my cat died..
Person C: Did you kill it?
Person B: No, the vet put it to sleep this morning.
Person D: (very snobbily) I thought you said it died last night.
Person B: ...
Person D: Don't f*ing get snippy at me. You were the one who said it died last night. I don't feel like dealing with b*tches today.

Needless to say, I need a drink, and wouldn't mind if the Wicked Witch of the East fell victim to this "tornado".

to answer your politeness question, no, she was not very polite

You work for a company that specializes in outdoor recreation, right? They're just trying to connect their staff with their customers.

Nope. I think you are thinking of the phone interview I had with Trek. I never heard back from them. Yes, I do blame brianvf for it. :D The place I work at specializes in customizing logos for apperal. In my profile, I have a link to the company.

Hi Lodge.

Beautiful day in Grand Forks. Took a break from working on the engine because I have to call into a meeting. Yay, conference calls.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 117: It's The Dog Days of Summer

Checking in from Grand Forks, where surprisingly, it was a perfect day to work outside, except for about an hour in the afternoon when it rained. Wasn't hot or very humid, overcast, with a little breeze, so we got a bunch of work done working outside on the engine that we're going to use for testing.

Since the hotel doesn't get FSN, sitting in the room, listening to the Twins game on the radio, surfing the boards and reading a book. :)

Hey Sioux people, are there public tours of REA? The co-worker technician that came with me up here is a hockey fan, but hasn't seen REA, so we want to go get a tour or something, if possible.
at least you have internet for a week? ;)

Every stadium should have that. I've toured Lambeau Field and Celtic Park in Glasgow and they were both a lot of fun... REA would be a hoot...

I want to take a tour of Merrimack's rink.

CC to the Techies: driving in this town is effing ridiculous. Every Drivers Ed instructor in the Copper Country should be sacked, immediately.
One example from my driving around town today: I was tailgated down Cemetery Road. It's not so much that, but the fact that I myself was already going far faster than I should have been. Just to be nice, I slowed down to the more appropriate 5 over ;). I also took my sweet time at the stop sign by the Heights, only to watch the woman driving said tailgating van flip me off, not look, then barrel through the intersection without even a hint of hesitation.
I'm not even going to go in to detail about the lack of knowledge on proper 4 way stops, not blocking an entire street when parallel parking, and the complete lack of signaling.

You would LOVE Boston.
I thought she was already in Boston. ;)

The way to handle tailgaters: slam on the brakes as hard as you can for a split second and watch their hearts leap into their throats as your vehicle pitches forward. (And if they hit you, they're at fault - hello insurance money!)
My best friend installed a button in his first car that would activate his brake lights when pressed (he had a switch to activate the button next to his door, so the passenger couldn't just press the button). Worked like a charm on tailgaters! :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 117: It's The Dog Days of Summer

ok Lodge, tough decision here.

Lynx is recalling pilots. Turns out they are PLANNING on operating through the end of September, and possibly longer. If I go back, I would get a tiny pay raise, amazing QOL, and in the event Lynx shuts down, at least I go down with the ship that I loved. Plus, there's the possibility that if I don't take recall with Lynx that I would lose my senority number there, and therefore, if the integration comes out favorably, I would be screwed.

But then what do I do? Wait for the integration to go through and hope that it works out? There's still the possibility of being unemployed when Lynx shuts down.

Suggestions.

I *think* the REA tours are at 2 and you buy the tickets in the Hostile & Abusive Shop in the arena lobby. Don't sample the Kool-Aid. ;)
Don't listen to him. The Kool-Aid is awesome. We use Maker's. :D

How often in these situations do things work out favorably for the Lynx side? I'd keep seniority with Republic, personally, as it seems to be the safer option.

Ha! It's probably Old Crow poured from a recycled Maker's bottle. :p

Naw, everyone knows they use 25 year old Canadian whiskey :D
Hey. Sioux fans take drinking seriously. We would NEVER use the cheap stuff for the Kool-Aid.

We give the 25 year old Canadian whiskey to you Techies so you can make out with drunk girls you met in a hotel stairway...:D

And then pee in the elevator. I see where this is going.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 117: It's The Dog Days of Summer

Hey, I made out with that drunk girl in a few places! Thanks for the whiskey though.
