Yeah CL is hit or miss. I've had some pretty good luck though (traded Sox tickets once and bought a power conditioner for my bass amp) and luck through a bass-guitar-centric site (got a steal on a very expensive speaker cabinet), but you really have to be picky. If the person's first contact with you is stupid or really cryptic, ignore them, they probably aren't worth the headache.

Also, if they try to negotiate price via email, f them. I never talk price via email, I'd rather do that in person - where the seller is more likely to take less if they see it right there. In fact, that speaker cab I bought is about $1000 new and the guy wanted $450 for it. We emailed back and forth a few questions, some pictures, decided where to meet. I show up, try it out, and pull $400 out of my pocket and ask if he'd take it. I had the other $50 with me, but hey, never hurts to try to negotiate. He laughed, mumbled about wanting the $450, then agreed to the lower price.

So yeah. You can usually afford to be uber picky with CL creatures.

Little nervous at the moment. Come home to see that a few friends have posted "thoughts and prayers" comments on a friend's facebook page about her brother who I was pretty good friends with growing up...

Okay Lodge, tough decision here.

Lynx is recalling pilots. Turns out they are PLANNING on operating through the end of September, and possibly longer. If I go back, I would get a tiny pay raise, amazing QOL, and in the event Lynx shuts down, at least I go down with the ship that I loved. Plus, there's the possibility that if I don't take recall with Lynx that I would lose my seniority number there, and therefore, if the integration comes out favorably, I would be screwed.

But then what do I do? Wait for the integration to go through and hope that it works out? There's still the possibility of being unemployed when Lynx shuts down.

Suggestions.
Sloe Gin, my two cents' worth.

In this economy, I'll take job security over what appears to be a temporary increase in comfort. There are a lot of "if"s in your message above (highlighted), and there is no reason to expect that any of these hypotheticals will come to pass.

First, any business plan that foresees successful operation for only two months with the possibility of continuing further does not inspire confidence. Plus, it sounds like the "plan" is just that: to operate through September. The big "if" - and less likely alternate - is operating past that date.

Second, unless Lynx has made it policy that you will lose your seniority number I wouldn't worry about that. It is more likely that they'll consider doing this only if operations continue past September and things are looking up for them. Only then - when they feel healthy enough to survive - would they risk alienating their experienced pilots by dropping their seniority numbers.

Finally, the integration question is another if that depends on whether they decide to extend Lynx's ops past September. Hard to say, but I would not put risk my livelihood on so many chancy questions. The bird is in your hand, and there might not be any at all in the bush!

Whatever you decide, good luck, and fly safe!

Good morning, MEUSA, RFAlph, and the rest of the Lodge!

Which hotel are you in? Our team left for the Forks last night and this morning. I think They're in the Hilton Garden Inn again.
I'm at the Hilton Garden Inn too. One more night there, then I head back to the cities at about noon on Friday.

This thread looks like it is almost ready to end. I hope that someone has a new poll ready.

Huh. You see two old white guys and a somewhat younger woman at breakfast, it could be them. Jeri, Leo and Sarah. Tell them hi from me. That'll confuse them. :D

Ok, I'll do that, though we have been leaving the hotel early, before they start serving breakfast. Its much more comfortable to work outside on the engine in the early morning when it is cool out and then take a long lunch or get done early when it is sweltering hot.

Good morning, Lodge. The zucchini bread I made last night turned out better than expected, had a good workout this morning, and am about to go to the farmer's market.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 117: It's The Dog Days of Summer

For those of you in cityslickerville - any recommendations to an eating establishment that would be fun for the little g's?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 117: It's The Dog Days of Summer

McDonalds Playland? :p

What would be fun to them?

No to McDonalds. The g's don't do fastfood. ;)

They are into anything and they will be happy wherever we end up going. I am just looking for something different that I can take the kids to and have a good time. (Actually thinking about the Rainforest place in MOA as an example not for the food but the atmosphere)

Or Hooters or a "gentlemans" club as the little g's have quite a bit of dollar bills in their piggy banks.......
:)
