How many of them even knew what the hell the lyrics they were singing actually meant. (let alone what THE MACHINE is) They probably also think System of a Down is just catchy pop music ;)

You can find all sorts of contradictions like that if you want..how many people who hate Jews probably love at least one Beastie Boys song? (or half the Christmas music out there) How many White Supremacists listen to (or at least adopt the mannerisms) of some sort of hip hop music? How many UND fans love Run to the Hills by Iron Maiden despite what it is about? How many rich yuppie snobs loved Tracy Chapman?

(I always love the ones that rip pop musicians for not writing their own music but then cite their love of Elton John and Meatloaf :D )

Except the right analogy is that you're turning a Dodge Caravan into a Ferrari. The base model has virtually nothing to do with the final model save for the general outer dimensions. Or maybe a better analogy for our redneck friends is calling the Ford model NASCAR a Fusion. l-o-farking-l. What's the multiplier on a fusion to a NASCAR-level car? 40x?

New engines, countermeasures, high-performance materials, single-off production costs, spare parts, all that stuff adds up. As someone who does estimating and execution for a living, everything costs more than you think. $2 billion doesn't seem out of whack considering delivery is still 10 years out. Inflation alone would account for around 18%-25% of that cost. Plus the 747 in your model already has the design and engineering costs factored across hundreds or maybe even thousands of aircraft. This is split between two. The only thing that the new Air Force One will share with whatever base model it's based off of is the name of the aircraft.

Need a lot more candidates for sure. Biden v Trump seems set up to be a BSABSVR election. Yeah it's a false equivalency but it worked this year.

The Dems frankly have to get away from the "Northeast Liberal" and the Rover crowd and also don't roll into the Midwest trap. Somebody from the west would be good, somebody out of Washington, Oregon, Nevada etc.

That's what I loved about the undertones of the "Lenny Briscoe" (Jerry Orbach) character on "Law & Order": raised Catholic by Catholic mother but Jewish father. He'd make some really good cracks about guilt. :D

I get how something simple sounding adds up fast when it comes to cost. (I deal with building new or retrofitting existing industrial machinery.)

Given that, I'd say buy a half dozen stock Citation X+ jets (mach 0.95). The President and minimum staff fly in those as Air Force 1. Fly three at a time and drop an air cover squadron around each (for misdirection). Make the press and non-essential staff ride in a stock 747 along behind or ahead. I think I just came in under $4 billion. ... Yes, yes, there are hundreds of unworkable aspects to that.

Just last week, Trump continued the practice with a tweetstorm against CNN's Jeff Zeleny, who dared report that Trump's false claims of "millions" of illegal voters were "blatant and baseless." This led to Fox News' Sean Hannity attacking Zeleny as well. (Though it did take a day, because that's how long it takes for something Donald Trump swallows to reach where Sean Hannity lives.)
