Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

Sure we can...live and let live. They arent forcing the Catholics to be Gay so the Catholics should leave them alone. (and vice versa)

The gays being allowed to have Life, Liberty and Happiness is not taking away from anyone else...as such they shouldnt be denied that. This isnt and either or thing both can survive together.

edit: Minnesota is suing Trump now over the Refugee order. Man...States Rights are biting GOPers in the butt :p

Old school Catholicism says being gay is wrong. So there's that part of that religion.
But discriminating against gays is wrong, so says a multitude of other religions.
Islam requires the burkas (sp?) for women.
Many places ban those for OSHA/work safety sake.
Can't do that, it's a religious freedom.

That sorta thing.

The US is trying to please everyone, and we all know how that goes. Hey, wish we COULD make everyone happy. But we can't.
The US isn't attempting to make everyone happy, the US is supposed to be areligious. As in, it's not supposed to favor one over another. What Republicans are attempting to do is give government approval to Christian belief and only Christian belief.

Hmmm. I've read many stories about workplaces:

Here's the requirements: x, y, z.
Here's the workers' demands: Can't have that because "religious exemption."

This goes for ALL religions, btw. Can't fulfill the requirements? Look for another job.

And before you judge, this goes for birth control, religious wear, moral beliefs, etc. This is all-encompassing.

I remember Jordan from daily show going to a trump rally in WI...he literally said "so others wanting equal rights to you means they take away from you" and the ***** said yes

No one's religion is being infringed and it's PSOTY candidate.

Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

In the event it hasn't already been posted or cited, Read Matt Bai's recent piece on comparing Trump to Orwell and Huxley's works. Short read but a good one (and closely tracks some of Kep's comments here about the danger of distraction where Trump in concerned). I would cite it here as a hypertext, but I just don't know how.

Current Executive Order Total: 17
Current Pace for Year One: 564.09

Are they actual, documented incidents, or hypothetical possibilities? Some even made up to "make a point" like the death committees against the ACA?

What's so funny about "moral beliefs" is that nobody is forcing anyone to be something they are not. If you think X is not moral- then don't be X.

Judaism and Islam BOTH think that eating pork is not moral, but we don't have a problem doing it in front of them. But somehow others being gay is not acceptable? Others managing family size offends you more than that?

We walk all OVER other people's religious beliefs. But somehow when we offed Christians, it's just too far. Give me a break.

If you want your company to be religious- fine, don't accept any funds from any form of government. Otherwise, you have to be neutral.

Apparently we hate Australia now.

How has it only been 13 days?

This is nonsense. We love each other and always will. They have an extreme immigration policy and Obama said he would take a bunch of the people they didn't want. Trump expressed his displeasure with this arrangement to their PM. They are awesome people and won't take much offense to it.

Oh cool. This will be just like when NASCAR froze out ESPN. All we're going to get are still images of Trump and shakey camerawork when senators are interviewed in the hallways and bathrooms of Congress regarding Trump and Co.*

*Seriously, NASCAR wouldn't credential ESPN for a few years so ESPN resorted to getting interviews TMZ style outside racetrack property, at hotels, airport terminals, etc. And could only show still images of the races.

Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

Headlines from the Sydney Morning Herald
Future shows America won't be returning to global leadership
PM's approach vindicated by Trump's madness
Worst call by far: Trump
White House, US State Department at odds over deal with Australia
Trump tweets he will study 'dumb' refugee deal with Australia
'Dead inside': The refugees left in limbo by the Trump-Turnbull feud

I dunno. They don't sound thrilled.

Even better, CNN has reasons to go deep, now. Always a good idea to give professional investigators strong reasons to go after you.

I can't wait to see what they find.

BTW, did any one catch that Trump Co lost a lawsuit yesterday? http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-...pany-loses-lawsuit-filed-by-golf-club-members

don is the kind of POS that will break the law, and get his way only to beg for forgiveness later. Or not. Scummy, bullying tactics. It may appear to work, but in the end, I don't see it. This is what we can expect for any agreements with other countries. yay.

So we can expect you to be a don apologist now?

They're not taking it so light heartedly:

Donald Trump slams 'dumb' refugee deal with Australia after 'worst' phone call

Donald Trump teaches Malcolm Turnbull a lesson in not playing nice

It is not just the President's reflection on the Turnbull conversation as "the worst call by far", according to The Washington Post.

It is not just the expression of Mr Trump's view that Australia is trying to export the "next Boston bombers".

Nor is the leaking of the fact that Mr Trump abruptly wrapped up the conversation sooner than anticipated, the action of the administration that should most alarm the Turnbull Government in its future dealings with Washington.

It is that the White House itself has acted with determination for two days to publicly cast doubt over the status of the deal, climaxing in Mr Trump's extraordinary tweet pledging to "study this dumb deal".
But that statement does not mask the clearest of facts — the White House has deliberately set out to place on the public record, and which is now conceded in words of a Turnbull minister, that "Trump hates this deal".

He may still honour it, if only for the inner deal-broker within him to extract a few favours in return from the Turnbull Government.

Or, as businessman Trump once famously put it himself:

"If somebody screws you, screw them back in spades."

Leaders the world over — beware.

Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

He says he wants to get out of all these trade "partnerships", and negotiate separate agreements with other states. There's not a state out there that's gonna offer us any sort of deal that will cause their relations with China to suffer.

Given his ineptitude in policy, countries will be knocking on our door to get partnerships that will totally screw us.

Or you have not been paying attention to the alternative to TPP that is going around. One that China is the leader vs. us. Yay.
