POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

I understand why you wouldn't upset Trump to his face. But as the balance of the world gets economically stronger, I don't know why you wouldn't work behind the scenes to strengthen ties with other countries. The US is too risky a trading partner to be the only basket for your eggs.
I would like to know if Ford, GM, and Toyota are having second thoughts about shuttering their operations in Australia. They seemed to all agree that it was cheaper to import their vehicles from Mexico, Japan, and the US though.

I guess that would be a win for Trump if those three continue to import from the US, but I can see Mexico production being increased instead.

Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

Both Mexico and Australia, despite heavy reporting, are downplaying the situation.

Politically, I understand. More can be done by phone calls by those behind the scenes than in public, but I kinda wish one or both would stand up and go "D*mn straight Trump p*ssed us off. Fu** him," and poke that Tang colored, toupee wearing milk bag with a giant stick.

And if they do that guess who is our next target...

(normally that is a sarcastic joke but now it isnt)

They get most of their cars from Asia, anyway. No cars made in the US are imported to Australia. That would be stupid given plants scatter throughout Asia Pacific for all of the automakers.

Where would you look instead?

really?

Yes, the US is currently the biggest economy. But Japan is still strong, Europe is still strong, and China is STILL rapidly growing.

You think we are so superior that countries can't just find other places to get and sell stuff??? Wow.

FYI, due to trademark issues, in Australia, the Toyota Highlander is known as the Kluger.

I guess there CAN be only one. ;)

I was just asking the question. Japan is good, not as sure on Europe or China.

Both Chevy and Ford have manufacturing plants in Australia and car lines specifically sold only there. So they have to consider that.

Ford doesn't anymore- they closed that plant down last year. The reason they had plants was a requirement that people had to buy an Australia made car. That law was lifted, and the plants left.

I don't thing GM has plants anymore, either.

Right now, more cars are sold in the EU than in the US. And quite a few more in China than the US, and is growing rapidly.

There's some serious money to be made in China- and it's why VW is currently the #1 auto maker in the world.

You should pay more attention to the news you don't like. There's some good info out there that can be very useful.

I'm not questioning the size of either and obviously China has had unbelievable growth. I think each is going to have their fairs share of challenges in the years ahead though(we might as well.) With China, I just don't have much trust in them, rational or irrational as that may be.

Odd. I thought Ford was making its current international version of the Ranger there. That must have moved. I knew the Holden line was done in Australia, but thought some other vehicles were still around.

Breaking News: President Donald J. Trump said he would "totally destroy" limits on political activity by tax-exempt churches. Congress would have to act.

So glad 53% of white women agree with this. This man is very dangerous. Very.

Bill O'Reilly will interview President Donald J. Trump during the Super Bowl's pregame telecast. It's one of the many ways politics and football will meet in an extraordinary, and for the NFL, uncomfortable way.

FOX picked Bill for the Super Bowl interview. Worst interviewer in the game. Partisan hack. Trump shill. Should be fascinating.

If U.C. Berkeley does not allow free speech and practices violence on innocent people with a different point of view - NO FEDERAL FUNDS?

Dangerous. Glad white women liked him so much.

some good news:

people have been contacting Chaffetz, and he has decided to withdraw HR 621

LOL, deflect the blame to Clinton and then cloak the threatening phone call you got from your big donors as "groups I support and care about". What a putz.
