Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

But, but, but, he promised to bring jobs back to the US! He said he was going to re-open the coal mines and abandoned factories!

It's almost as if that was just an obvious lie that only really ignorant people would swallow.

Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

I am rather familiar with the whole MX cartel thing/related, and MX has not had a handle on this since it all started (Pablo). It's a completely different culture in the bribe-or-die department, much different than the mafias we've experienced in the US. There is no negotiation. You are bribed, or you are targeted/die. It's gotten better compared to when the Zetas first came onto the scene, but that is not saying much. Here, the underworld may negotiate. There, it's a yes or no question.

It's a deep-rooted problem, that does extend to official politics, and it's quite a conundrum to unravel. It might indeed take an outside force to clean up, but the Mexican officials/populace are a proud group, who insist they can do it themselves, with no help from anyone, especially the US. There's a special sort of hatred (for lack of a better word) for us.

Think: the classic CIA/FBI rivalry here, but on a much bigger and more deadly scale.

He threatened to invade Mexico.

Sorta. Boots on the ground, yes. Attack....that language is gray. I am against attack, for obvious reasons. Assist and enforce anti-illegal immigration and anti-cartel operations? I'm all for.

Oh, as long it's a nice violation of sovereignty it should be cool.

FOH dummy.

Our army. Enforcing laws. In a sovereign nation.

How is that not an invasion? JFC

You do realize that the US has been assisting MX since the Pablo days, correct? Maybe off the books, but still assisting. This one appears to be on the books. Might wanna read up on history.

Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

Let's put it this way....there's a reason the Sinaloa cartel is beating the Zetas.
Cue up "With A Little Help From My Friends."

MX cannot beat the cartels/illegals trade w/o the US's help.

The EAS sounded on Comcast a few minutes ago.

I ran for the liquor cabinet and started chugging. It was only a test.

Tomorrow is going to suck.

Next time, grab the bottle and a baseball mitt, and head to your driveway. Yell "I GOT IT!" then chug. ;)

Sending in a half dozen/dozen special ops on a black helicopter to help Mexixo eliminate a cartel king-pin is not the same as sending a whole battalion to set up a base of operations under the guise of helping Mexico.

Unless you just want to say Operation Desert Shield was just us helping Iraq like we want to help Mexico...

All we have to do is legalize weed, cheaper and less risk.

Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

Are we importing it now? Serious question, I thought it was domestically sourced.

Oh yeah. Much easier to get your hands on the base materials in Mexico these days, than in Indiana. The meth states all track sales of stuff like pseudo-ephedrine cold pills to people's government IDs now, and you get flagged for further investigation if you buy too much in a month.
