Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

Lack of school spirit? Depends on the school, but overall I would say students have more choices and more diversions now than 20 years ago.

I think that and kids now days are brought up in the pc world and are too afraid to say/do anything. They would rather just "yes sir, yes mam" to all the suit and ties of the world. Derek, like myself, don't. We've watched the NCAA's take away, and take away, and take away. As we joked last year whats next? If team A has more fans then Team B, Team A can't cheer as loud because it has to be equal....?

Agreed. It's a changing world to be sure. Look at the changes Oswego for instance, new CC, dorms, and I read new townhouses under construction. Dollars are part of this discussion like it or not.

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

Well, if all of this talk has convinced me of anything, it's that I REALLY need to transfer my tape of the '87 championship game onto DVD, if only so I can post a few clips of Stafford and the Plattsburgh-Oswego rivalry at its most over-the-top raucous. Players in the box clearly expressing their displeasure to the cameraman, complete disregard for fire codes, the woefully low neutral zone glass that allowed for some of the closest player-fan interaction you'll find this side of a pond...unsafe to a point just this side of chaos, but it sure is fun to watch :)
althought we lost it was pandamonium, 8 TV cameras up your butt.....ow can I say that lol........I had a few words with the "locals" as well while on the ice fun fun stuff......

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

I wish you right, but alas, the atmosphere is NO WHERE, not even 25% of what it was 20 years ago. Is it was because today's students are saints or because the self-righteous establishment has eroded it into a mockery of the historical spirit of collegiate sports?

played for the lakers from 84-87, .....going to my first game since the 87 National Champ.......ill let all ya know what I think of the CC crowd FRi and sat, as compared to the old days at The Golden R.....Im sure they will b " GREAT "...

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

Johnson 09,

You must have some kind of a warped mind. Perhaps you're on drugs. Now, if you have a legitimate mental illness, I don't mean to be rude. But seriously, if you are on drugs, you've either taken too much or not enough. No one, and I mean no one, save for a few zealots and scientologists, is going to pay attention to that letter. In fact, it will probably even cause the crowd to be even more raucous. I'll stand up to the man when there's actually a man in Oswego. When UP blows some kids brains out for swearing at a Platty Player, then I'll stand up to the man. Until then, I'm good. You've been posting about this for hours now. Why? No one cares. Except for Tim Hale and, apparently, you. Why would you brag about your meeting with Gosek and the Georgettes? That has nothing to do with the letter. If you want to make a poor argument about the evils of fascism and the totalitariansim of Debbie and Timmy at least make an effort to stay on topic. The next time I'm in Albany, I'll make sure to stay away from Gloversville.

I don't mean to rain on your parade. If you want to go to Greene's with the other lifetime posters, go for it. But don't blame Tim Hale, or Oswego State University, for issuing the letter. They probably had to do it to avoid any potential lawsuits. When I saw the letter, I just said Duh? Of course they have to send this out. Some people sue at the drop of a hat, keep in mind. I thought about filing a lawsuit against you when I read your posts. All I want to do is read about the upcoming game and instead I get this letter talk. And yes, some people didn't like it. It is a live event, stuff happens. A few people understood the letter, though, too. But everyone disregarded it completely. Well, almost everyone. There was you and the zealots. It didn't need to be addressed further, but you addressed it anyway. After that, you couldn't even respect EagleLaker, who simply offered an opinion which differed from yours. Now, his contributions weren't exactly the picture of maturity. But seriously man, grow up. Romney closed. Shea stadium got torn down. It happens. Move on and go back to Elmira. No guns. No butter. Both can kill.

he's rocking the suburbs

When is WNYO going to start rocking the suburbs again and win back the pitcher? ;)

I seem to remember a certain member of WNYO running to McDonald's last season after grounding out late in the game.

Did you guys even field a full team for that football game in the fall or did it finally just end up being a forfeit to WTOP?

Lewis Karpel, forever enshrined in the WTOP hall of fame in that game for:

"We've got pictures":D

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

1 freekin million dollars and we still can't get replays??? Geeezzzeee........

Actually, it's the college's decision not to take replays. CTS hears WTOP's IFB feed so they know when we play our replays and they can pick them up and put them on the big board, but they don't do it because they don't want to influence officials or something like that.
