Yeah, and now we're just polluting this posting with non-hockey stuff cause we have that red. Eh, it's all good. Oh, so did you hear V8's sponsoring Terri Schiavo now for Veggie of the Year?

Weren't you the guy that said better dead than red?;)

well sir...the balls in your court now:cool:

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

It's crazy. The students are just as drunk as they ever were, they're just under lock and key and threat of getting kicked out thanks to how they run things. Instead, the school would rather have the fans be the type that only pays attention to the prompts on the video board for when to cheer.

Sometimes doing things like the pros isn't the way to get things done.

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

Actually, it's the college's decision not to take replays. CTS hears WTOP's IFB feed so they know when we play our replays and they can pick them up and put them on the big board, but they don't do it because they don't want to influence officials or something like that.

This practice is actually quite common in the colleges and the pros but it is not universal. Depends on where you are.

"He shoots, He SCORES!"

and that influenced the officials...uh, how?

What is the NCAA position on video replay? The officials used a video review in the Vermont - Air Force playoff game last year to determine the game winning goal that went through the back of the net, about 6 minutes after it occurred (There was no prior stoppage in play). Clearly video review would be available at many DIII college venues.

Only Division I NCAA PLAYOFF games have video replay.

Conferences can do their own thing if they like. I think some D1 conferences use video replay. However, at that level, it is quite inconsistent when it comes to TV coverage, number of cameras, and position of cameras.

There is nothing in place for DIII (imagine how inconsistent the technology would be at the D3 level). Though I wonder since the national championship game is televised, whether they would do something there if necessary.

NCAA uses replay for officials in some conferences already-Conference USA football for example. What we are talking about is Video Replay on big screens in stadiums.

Wow Rob, that was rather out of place for a Shaivo reference. . .

Here's my thoughts on some of the stuff I've read on the last few pages

"The E'mail" will result in nothing. I don't see UP escorting the entire student section out of CC for the biggest game of the year, that would be ridiculous. I know I'll be there and yelling as loud as possible. As for the chants themselves, I wish we could use more chants without curse words, but it is what it is. When we played Adrian, I yelled "I know it might be wrong but I'm in love with Casey's mom" (In reference to goalie Casey Tuttle and the notrorious Fountains of Wayne song) and it was pry the most enjoyable thing yelled all game. Oh well

WNYO had better show at least show up to this semesters NYO vs TOP game. I went to 2 games last semester to stand around and leave when WNYO failed to show. Granted, you aren't going to get the golden pitcher even if you show up, but at least we get to play.

EXTRA TICKET!!

I have one, and am willing to let it go to the highest bidder lol. . . Or whoever gets ahold of me first.

Puck Flattsburgh, and remember, Better Dead than Red!!

Casey Tuttle transferred to Adrian? :(

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

So we have learned a few things...

1-Derek has yet to grow up and embrace what it means to be a responsible adult in the real world.

2-Student creativity has been flushed down the toilet and the best they can come up with is crap they wouldn't dare say (or get away with) if grandma was on one side and mom was on the other. Why is it such a tough assignment to cheer for your own team without pi**ing on the opponent? You were smart enough to get it - show that you are smart enough to graduate....

3-Blame it on the new building...the administration...the Zamboni fairy...in case you haven't noticed, this is a national trend that is being embraced across the country. It is a reflection of current sensibilities and is not limited to the two schools in question. It is what it is...

4- Like it or not, it's a mixed crowd...families...kids...in relatively close quarters...you can hear a pin drop or an F-bomb without trying very hard. If you can't come up with anything better than George Carlin's littany of what you can't say on TV, then give your ticket up to someone with more than half a brain who can cheer the Lakers to victory.

Great post that I completely agree with. However, as you know, some posters on this board (on both sides of this rivalry) want the hockey rink to have the same atmosphere as the local bar at 2:00 am on a Friday night. They don't give a **** what other people want or think - they just want the right to behave however they want, whereever they want.

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

Casey Tuttle plays for Elmira, not Adrian. Has for years, and has always been a thorn in our side (we'd be 3-0-0 against Elmira this year and the two wins would have been even bigger without Tuttle in net... the guy always stands on his head against Oz).

As for the replay thing, I was talking about the jumbotron, not official replay. I actually don't think we could simply because we don't have the set up (no TV in the scorer's box, don't know if CTS is recording our feed to be able to play it back, they would only have one camera as we only record the live feed, not each individual camera feed). They did show them for a few games my freshman or sophomore year, but then they stopped. Let me tell you, I know a few people at WTOP who wished they would show them again.

Oh, by the way, in case anyone didn't know... if you can't make it to the games (Potty and Platty), they will BOTH be streamed live on the internet at www.oswego.edu/athletics/live

No, we just don't want to live in your world where minutia like hockey-rink banter has to be managed by authoritarian do-gooders who ever-limit free expression and free will. Be careful what you wish for - oops, too late.

The same argument can be made for people that want a hockey rink quiet...they dont care what the students want or think, they just want to behave however they want, where ever they want...

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

For anyone wanting a weather update... we had quite a squall this morning with typical high winds... still not much accumulation though.

Forgive Steve.

His statements usually express the opinion that of the esteemed Plattsburgh State University and their employees.

We're supposed to get 3-5 inches today, 2-4 tonight, 4-6 tomorrow, tomorrow night just flurries, and then just cloudy Saturday. So, anyone coming for the Potsdam game, drive safe. Roads should be decent for the Plattsburgh game.
