Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-13...Part 2..Because Norwich's thread didn't close 1st

Re: Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-13...Part 2..Because Norwich's thread didn't close

Nothing to be ashamed of for these Lakers. Their accomplishments are now part of the lore of Oswego hockey. From now on the names of Whitelaw, Moodie, Rodrigues, etc. will be thought of fondly by Laker fans for years to come. Despite not winning the final game a couple of times, they were always formidable and ALWAYS played with dignity and respect for their opponent. I wish them well. .....but this Cardinal fan won't miss them at all !!!

After games like this it's tempting to breakdown each play and say "if that one pass hadn't been intercepted" or "if the ref hadn't called that bad penalty" or something like that. But this is simply self-torture and it's pointless. Oswego played a good game, but Wisconsin played a better one. Oswego made mistakes and Wisconsin capitalized on them. For the majority of the game, Wisconsin was simply playing like the better team. There were a million points this season where the entire course of the season could have changed with one small action, and this game was no different.

Congratulations to Wisconsin for a tough come-from-behind win and best of luck in your new conference.

This Laker team (and especially this senior class) has rewritten Oswego State's history books and their accomplishments will not be soon forgotten. Complete SUNYAC domination with 4 straight years of being the regular season champions and winning half the SUNYAC championships they had a chance to win. They had a winning record of 7-3-1 against Plattsburgh over their tenure and racked up 98 wins. They managed to have a winning percentage above .800 for all four years while entering 3 new names into the 100 point club. The names of people like Moodie, Rodrigues and Whitelaw (don't forget Hare) will forever shape Oswego's legacy.

As for next year, we're bringing back some VERY talented guys who are hungry for a championship. Gosek is bringing in some very talented freshmen too. A team that has been in four straight frozen fours and 2 straight national championships will attract some very attractive talent. I know some of you are thinking "who wants to go play for a team that just lost all their best players?", I would say it's a person who wants a lot of playing time.

Oswego has not played their last championship game, and they have not won their last championship. GO LAKERS!

If someone told me Oswego would be up 2-0 in the first and lose 5-3 (eng), I would have said "not this team"...but they did...and it hurts...but I'm just a fan...can't imagine how our players feel...congrats to W-EC...you "did the little things" AND the BIG things...speed + size + a willingness to use both is a deadly and effective equation. (right, prof?).

It's overcast here in Placid this am...a grey day...maybe God is a Laker fan after all...I know I am and could not be prouder of these men who wore the Hunter Green and Gold this year...

I woke up this am in Placid with Jim Mckay's famous "the thrill of winning and the agony of defeat" wringing through my head. You watch these 14 seniors for four years and become friends with their parents there is no way you way you do not become attached. They played their hearts out and it was just not enough
Congrats to Wisconsin for a great game

It also remains to be seen how the loss of financial aid packages will affect the level of talent Coach Gosek is able to being to Oswego. It's a lot tougher to get a top player to commit to a school, knowing they will have to pay full tuition. But we have some good recruits coming in. Next year could be a rebuilding year, but I'm excited to see what these kids can do.

What is changing as far as financial aid packages at Oswego?
