By the way... if anybody thinks its puzzling that bin Laden would take an interest in the Arab revolutions has to be a total moron. That being said, the writers for CNN are total morons. There is no assurance that Eygpt will turn out the way that western liberalistic Eygptians would hope. The MB are already making motions that "sure, we'll give democracy a chance... and if that fails...." well, you know... or at least says an op-ed put out by the organization.

edit: i apologize to CNN... the gov't official is a total idiot, I hope his/her resignation is pending... followed by his/her return of his/her college degree(s). Of course bin Laden is going to take an interest in a vector for Islamists to take over. I hope to God our gov't doesn't actually believe that democracy is a necessary result of all that turmoil... I hope so, but most signs point to "no". Do they really think that bin Laden is going to be going "drats, we've been foiled by that precocious liberal democratic spirit!"?

OBL is a household name over here, for obvious reasons, but there's no shortage of Islamist factions. While it would be a huge overstatement to say that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" applies here, it's still useful to improve our understanding of inter-Islamist relations. That sort of thing won't sell on Fox and Friends (we should just get em all), but it matters to Petraeus, the CIA, and the broader intelligence community, who have the much tougher job of figuring out how, exactly, to accomplish the above.

I think you were right the first time. The CNN reporter framed the story ineptly. But there is a story there.

Didn't we learn subsequently that many (all?) of the 9/11 killers spent a lot of their free time in "gentlemen's clubs?" How can any brain wrap itself around the ideas that watching more or less pretty women take off their clothes and make themselves available for anonymous sex is okay, as is the imperative of killing as many Americans as possible (and themselves) because Americans don't lead the ascetic lives demanded by the prophet?

What would really be great here is if OBL's taste ran to the kinky or gay.

I wonder if the military can bring a pro-active lawsuit... on the other hand, they might not... if they can get a movie out during say Summer 2012 that might play into the campaign season.

I have no doubt the military has or will signed off on this. They get a recruitment movie and I am guessing some merchandising kick back out of the deal. It isn't like they were going to do it themselves. This will be free recruits and money!

You copyright original artistic works (paintings, books, music, movies, etc.)
You trademark identifiers (logos, slogans, business/product names, etc.)(for instance, coca cola has trademarked their iconic bottle design)

Trademarks also can be held by multiple people, depending on thier usage and liklihood of confusion. So if you call your ice cream "Red Wings Delight" because it's red and tastes like chicken wings, you won't necessarily lose out if the hockey team tries to stop your usage of the term "Red Wings." Then again you might. Ultimately it comes down to the liklihood that a consumer would be confused whether your ice cream was affiliated with the hockey team or not.
