Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

"It's Bush's fault" or "Bush was worse." Blah, blah, blah. Give the Field Marshall time, he's playing catchup.

Hey, I admitted as much re: playing catch-up. We'll see how it plays out. :)

But even saying that Bush/Rove/Cheney were worse doesn't quite do it justice. They were several orders of magnitude worse.

If we adapted the Richter scale to measure shameless politicization of national security, Obama's probably standing at about a 3. The Bush administration, in full reelection mode, probably hit about 9. THAT's why I smirk at all the hand-wringing over all this "OMG, teh politicization!!11!!1!" stuff.

From what I can tell, most in the GOP are basically in agreement. As usual, it's mostly the nuts on the, yes, fringe who are making all the noise.

And yes, they are nuts. Because if they knew anything about electoral politics, there's no way they'd be getting this worked up.

See, we've got a consensus forming here: anyone who disagrees with or criticizes the Field Marshall is. . .crazy. I read a definition the other day. Vindication: is when your chief political enemy uses your methods to achieve his greatest accomplishment.

“Tonight, I can report . . . And so shortly after taking office, I directed Leon Panetta . . . I was briefed on a possible lead to bin Laden . . . I met repeatedly with my national security team . . . I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action. . . . Today, at my direction . . . I’ve made clear . . . Over the years, I’ve repeatedly made clear . . . Tonight, I called President Zardari . . . and my team has also spoken. . .These efforts weigh on me every time I, as Commander-in-Chief . . . Finally, let me say to the families . . . I know that it has, at times, frayed. . . .” Note: he then rushed off to do an interview on "60 Minutes."

No chance "Mr. First Person" was politicizing the announcement. You'd have to be crazy to think that.

Obama on 60 Minutes tonight:

And I think that anyone who would question that the perpetrator of mass murder on American soil didn’t deserve what he got needs to have their head examined.

Breaking hearts all over Europe.

Heh... his radical base must be calling into the white house asking Valerie Jarret just exactly what she's thinking in letting him say that.

---

echoing solovsfett.... that Merkel thing is just insane... but that's to show you where Europe's rot is at the moment. Hamstrung to some obnoxious unworkable ideals that have largely replaced religion up to and including the attendant heavy handedness for having the temerity to violate the dictates of God. When things go plaid over there it'll be interesting to see the political/social class of Europe blame others for their self-destruction.

Yes. You'd have to be crazy even to bat an eyelash over that, considering the inflated rhetoric that we've gotten used to.

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

* I am not criticizing anything that Obama said.* (Just thought I had better be preemptive with you people.:D;))

Anyways though, it should constantly be pointed out that it's not just "American soil" that bib Laden committed mass murder on. Madrid bombings, London bombings, etc.

Well, if you're not, then I will.

How dare Obama politicize OBL by constantly referring to him by name, and not the people who carried out his bidding. He's completely megalomaniacal, I tell ya.

Here comes the nurse with YOUR thorazine.

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

Must defend Obama. Must defend Obama. "It's Bush's fault." "Bush is way worse."

When have I said anything was Bush's fault? When have I ever praised Obama on foreign policy?

I guess when you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bull*****.

Yup. Defend him with every post then deny that's what you're doing. He's perfect, he makes Chris Mathews legs tingle, etc. I got it. Even so, he's politicized this event, whether you agree or not. I won't accuse you of being crazy. Let's just say you have a problem with comprehension. And a teensy problem with honesty.

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

HEY!!!!

let's agree on 2 things

1. UBL's departure was 9 years and 7 months later than it should have been but, hey he got what he deserved in the end and good job Seal Team 6 and CIA, and good job pres on giving the green light on this vesus a drone strike

2. "And I think that anyone who would question that the perpetrator of mass murder on American soil didn’t deserve what he got needs to have their head examined." Obama

the fact #2 needs to be said by the president is an indictment of where we are in the world today. ugh

To me, the speech just sounded like the Decider was showing where the Buck Stopped, nothing more than that.

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

With any elected official, there is a hardcore group who will not be pleased literally no matter what they do. That group always seems to number at least 25% with presidents. They likewise see anybody with anything positive to say as attacking them. It's all about them.
