Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

When you stop to think about it, this dispute is really rather simple. You're prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt, I'm not.

Agree to disagree!

Edit: And it's May 6th, 2011, and Osama bin Laden is still dead!

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

Another gd amateur shrink! Bottom line for you, anyone who criticizes BHO is either fringe or loonie or obsessed. Got it. Well reasoned, well thought out arguments. And you've clearly proved the point that it was "media frenzy," instead of incompetence, that accounted for the multiple versions of what transpired in Pakistan. My fault. The media's fault. But no blame on the Field Marshall. Right. BTW, did you get the extended warantee on your sarcasm detector?

Yes, shrugging off criticism as "middle school girls" and "amateur shrinks" is certainly the route to adult conversations. I'm not trying to make excuses for the corrections being made to the story, that's on the administration. My point is that it appears to be the lesser of two evils. Either get their understanding of the events out as quickly as they become available or allow the media to create the story themselves. I appreciate transparency from a government and if that means some mistakes will be in the public's eye then so be it. As for your claim that anyone speaking against Obama is on the fringe to me......hardly the case. But if that's what it takes for you to feel better about your argument then by all means be my guest.

They are eventually taking over.

so they think. I think our specials ops and cia will ensure they're neutralized if and when necessary. it's scary nonetheless considering how the people protesting for bin laden there are not the downtrodded/putupon but those w/benefits and education

I meant, they think they are eventually taking over in Great Britain, due to population growth, immigration, etc. I'm not sure if special ops and the CIA can stop that.

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

hey guys...we all sort of knew this would happen but it's despressing as hell regardless and if I were within 20 miles of this I'd go protest these nutbags. I mean if they hate the west *** are they living in great britain for??????

Abu Muaz, 28, from east London, added: "It is only a matter of time before another atrocity."

It's only a matter of time before Los Angeles falls into the ocean.
It's only a matter of time before a hurricane hits Cape Hatteras.
It's only a matter of time before the Sun burns out.
It's only a matter of time before the Cubs win the World Series (okay, maybe not).

It's only a matter of time for a lot of things. Saying that there will be a terrorist attack at some point in the future is a very bold prediction!

The English can remove that threat by not wearing condoms.

[sigh]

I suppose I knew it wouldn't last, but despite the unavoidable it's a bit early to trot out partisan platitudes.

So you weren't referring to me when you twice mentioned me and "fringe" in the same sentence? That's like the old Nixon trick: "Many people say my opponant is soft on Communism, but I would never say such a thing."

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

Angela Merkel, criminal.

The political and public fallout following Chancellor Angela Merkel's statement on Monday that she was "glad" Osama bin Laden had been killed was among the most hotly debated topics in the German media this week...
But Hamburg judge Heinz Uthmann went even further. He alleges that the chancellor's statement was nothing short of illegal, and filed a criminal complaint against Merkel midweek, the daily Hamburger Morgenpost reported Friday.

"I am a law-abiding citizen and as a judge, sworn to justice and law," the 54-year-old told the paper, adding that Merkel's words were "tacky and undignified."

In his two-page document, Uthmann, a judge for 21 years, cites section 140 of the German Criminal Code, which forbids the "rewarding and approving" of crimes. In this case, Merkel endorsed a "homicide," Uthmann claimed. The violation is punishable by up to three years' imprisonment or a fine.

Seriously, can we please stop pretending we care what Europe thinks of us now?

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

Yeah, I just don't see the problem with correcting the details. When the story first broke, I was flipping channels trying to get info before Obama went on, and Fox was reporting OBL was killed a week ago. The point isn't Fox is idiots. The point is the story was tough to nail down, as you might expect over a secret, covert mission, for a few days. A very good point is how much of the info that turned out to be bad was fed by the Admin, and how much was pure speculation on the media's part that the Admin had to bat down? This reminds me a lot of the Jessica Lynch story. First she went down fighting, then eventually she herself corrected the narrative a week or so later. Look, in war things get confused and the reporting is no different. Old Pio, you seem to be implying deceit on the part of Obama, which I don't get since if he wanted to put forward a made up version of events he most likely could get away with it as the SEAL's wouldn't talk, and OBL's relatives aren't exactly credible.
