Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

Since we'll probably never know the names of the SEAL members, do they at least get to collect the $25 million reward?
Or at the least, get to use it for one wild weekend in Vegas?? 25 million for a crew of that size would be a pretty good start!

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

I don't have a problem with it, but evidence usually doesn't shut up conspiracy theoriests.

i think when you weigh the positives of releasing the photos to shut up the conspiracy theorists against the negatives of releasing the photos to the extremists around the world - it is obvious that they shouldn't do it. it might seem like a simple thing to do right now, but you are absolutely right: at worst, the doubters will think the pictures are fake, and at best they will just assume bush killed him and the main stream media waited until now to release the pictures. meanwhile, his bloody head would probably become a new insignia for the terrorist movement.

Rep. King (R-NY) says the information came "after waterboarding." He doesnt explain what "after waterboarding" is...whether it be minutes after, or days, weeks, months after he was waterboarding.

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

My take on releasing the photos/videos? They belong to us. We bought and paid for them in blood and treasure. And if we could stand seeing the videos of those poor devils who jumped from the world trade center. We can stand seeing the photos and videos of the pr*ick who made it happen. Conspiracy theorists? Fook 'em. Muslims who might be "inflamed" by the release of the photos? Fook them, too.

I rarely watch Geraldo, the least admirable "journalist" on the planet and even less frequently quote him. But, calling OBL an "sob" on national TV was perfect--a moment of zen.

Finally, Lindsey Graham among others, has tried to make some sort of point about we acted hastily is burying Bin Laden's body at sea. Well, senator, what should we have done? Brought him back to the Law and Order ME's office for a post mortem? And what would that have revealed? That he had an undescended testicle? Or the tattoo of a woodpecker with a cigar in its mouth on his buttocks? That he was a hypocrite because he was stoned on MD 20/20 at the time of death? The cause of death was a double tap to the face. And we know who fired the shots. Case closed. This corpse wasn't going to provide us with an iota of information useful in fighting Islamism. The computers, hard drives and the rest, well that's a different matter.

The more you consider this, the more it was absolutely the right decision, and I'm sure it was part of the plan. Dumping the body as fish food, however disrespectful to Muslims, eliminated a million potential headaches that could arise with storing, studying, burying the thing somewhere. It's gone, and a point of contention is gone with it.

I don't see how any rational human being can argue with the disposing of the body. Lindsey Graham must be sucking on the funny stuff again.

Maybe Graham wanted us to hang on to the corpse, the way the Russians hung on to Hitler's remains for decades. And we could have periodic exhumations and reburials. Plus, treating the corpse with entry level Muslim courtesy is unlikely to dissuade any dedicated Islamist, but it might. Nobody's hurt by the gesture.

Believe it or not, I'm not a big fan of Fox. But Geraldo brings a bit of a human face to the angry robot.

Fish him out of the drink, bury him and build a shrine. Anyone who makes the pilgrimage gets mysteriously double tapped or GPS-tagged for further monitoring

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

Saw a headline around 'Maybe we should get out of Afghanistan now'. I certainly agree with the sentiment.

The administration has said it was a pretty long time after. At any rate, the length of time doesn't really matter. What people don't seem to understand about waterboarding is that it's not a scenario in which you pour water down someone's throat while yelling questions at them. It's a technique designed to turn uncooperative detainees into cooperative ones. In the kase of KSM, I'd say it worked pretty darn well.

From the sublime to the ridiculous: some Indian "leaders" are unhappy at the choice of the name Geronimo to designate OBL. They think it's "hostile" and "abusive." Maybe we could make it up to them by naming a college hockey team after the old boy.

That is a very poor choice. Seriously. They don't call them Native Americans for nothin. The first gaffe of the campaign.

Whether Obama handpicked the name or not is a big unknown.

So its pretty clear to me now that athletes should not be allowed to use Twitter without supervision.
